A few problems

Just bought I 1987 with a 13b turbo swap and it seems everyday it has a new problem. First I have to give it gas or it wont start. And now it says that I need to add coolant even though my coolant is full and it is not even pulling the coolant from the overflow reservoir. It only says that I need coolant when I'm idling or going pretty slow, once I get up to a good speed the warning light turns off, and the car does not overheat.

1. If you have to step on the gas pedal to start, make sure the previous owner did not remove the BAC, or bypass air control valve. It is located on the intake manifold on the passenger side. Did the previous owner also remove emission components? Search on here for BAC if you need more information or look at the factory service manual.

2. If the coolant buzzer is coming on and you have coolant in the car, there is most likely air in the cooling system which is causing the buzzer. The air could be due to simply not bleeding the system by letting the car run (idle) with the cap off for about 30min or you have a small leak somewhere.

Missing BAC or other cold start equipment would also be my guess if the problem is keeping it idling after startup. If the engine won't catch without the pedal depressed, then it's more likely flooding. Dirty injectors and the rich stock fuel map will cause this.

If not air in the cooling system, a loose connection to the coolant level sender could also cause the warning buzzer to go on an off. The sender is directly on top of the radiator, and has a single wire coming off of it. There should be a bullet connector ~6" down the wire, so you can check there.
