I just recently purchased a 88 turbo from a kid and he mentioned that it need a battery, Alternator and he mentioned that coolant would run out of the exhaust, so long story short I need to probably yank the motor and tear it down to get to the Coolant seals till I buy a new Alternator and battery. So my question is where's the best place to buy the coolant seal at? I remember coming across a whole seal kit but I can't find it again and I tried my local advance and they don't have a clue what I'm asking for when I ask if I can place an order for new coolant seals for the car.

If you're going to tear the whole engine down to replace the coolant seals (these are the numerous o-rings around the coolant passages & between the irons/housings), you really should consider replacing the various other seals at the same time. At the very least, replacing ALL of the soft seals would be a much better idea. Apex seals, side seals, etc... can be reused if they are still in good shape (detailed specs in the FSM, which is free to d/l. See FAQ), but that's primarily in cases where the engine had low miles to begin with.
Rebuild kits can be purchased from a number of places, but Advance Auto is not one.

These are a couple ^.
Mazda will sell seals of course, but I think you have to source them separately (ie not in a kit).

yeah that's what I was saying, I was going to replace pretty much all of the seals. Appreciate the links.
Also I started her today for the first time to see how bad the leak was but the RPM's shot up past 3K and I killed it instantly just in case. I'm hoping that it's just the throttle cable being too tight or something minor but since this is my first Rotary could it be something else? coming from working the common Piston.

I see. I was worried to leave it running like that cause it didn't show any intention of stopping at 3000 rpms. Usually it would slow down to 3000 then go down to 800 pr so. I appreciate the anwsers to my noob questions. When I get off today I'll start her again and see what it will do next.

I'm hoping it stops at 3 it didn't seem like it was going to stop and a lot of smoke was already coming out so I killed the ignition immediately. Before I got the car it was sitting for almost 2 months if that helps any. I'll post back when I give her another go and type out what happens.

Usually when a 13b loses a coolant seal, it results in exhaust gases being forced into the coolant system, and coolant shooting out of the radiator.
Since yours has failed in a different manner, with coolant being shot out the exhaust, you might want to consider a repair that is very effective on 12a motors. When a 12a fails, it almost always results in coolant going out the exhaust. This means that a radiator sealant will have a good chance at sealing the leak.
Run a search for "Alumaseal" if you are interested in a possible cheap fix ($4.00). I've got over 30k miles on my engine since I did this. Good luck.![Smilie](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I remember reading your thread when I was lurking and was praying that it would work for me asw a temp fix before I start to rebuild in the future. thanks for the info bro.
Also I got home from work and started her up and it shot past 3000 RPM and was climbing past 5000 O_o so I killed it and checked the gas pedal and there lies my problem so I'm probably gonna have to check under the hood when I have some light and see if the throttle cable is any good.
cause the peddle had no resistance to it at all.

Hes right that does work I tried it on my first Rx-7, an 86 GXL and it ran for awhile after that. Sometimes not that well but it ran. Another thing is to watch what sealant you add because some can clog up the radiator and coolant hoses.

possibly I just need to find someone to help with labor and tools cause I don't have any tools and the shop around here that specialize in Rotaries closed down. So I'm trying to find someone around Pensacola who would be willing to lend a hand.

There has to be rotary heads down there, they are hidden all over the place lol. Im sure if you look in the South East section of the forum youll find some people who are willing to help you out. I met some pretty cool people through the love for the Rx-7.
