Clutch Issues

The pedal is on the floor and the clutch does not relese at all, at first i was thinking hydro problems but now im thinking it something mechanical like the shift fork or something, My question is what are some common issues with these ( 1986 Rx-7 Gxl ) and how can i figure out if it is mechanical or Hydraulic, Thanks for any input

You'll need two people to figure out if it's hydraulic...one to work the pedal, the other to watch the clutch tab's movement (or lack thereof) while the pedal is being pumped....what's the color of the fluid in the master cylinder? When the pedal hits the floor like that, I'm thinking master or air in the system.

ps. I'm a 1stgen guy, so you can see that clutch tab pretty easy...if it's different in a 2ndgen, I apologize...can anybody else help here?

If the clutch pedal goes down and stays down, then its hydro.

If the clutch pedal works normal but the clutch does not disengage then it is probably a bad pilot bearing.

You need to replace the master and slave cylinder. They are shot. VERY common fail point on these cars.

...and do them both at the same time...the black you're seeing is the rubber seals breaking down.
