car hates me!

Well i just bought my first rx7 last tues. The guy i bought it from wired the radio wrong and shorted out the ignition switch and the wiper relay. so i unplugged the radio to keep it from doing more damage. Well everything was working fine till sunday night i went to go start it and it ran then shut off. tried to start it again and i got nothin. i tested the pump and its good so i tested the connector in the back and it wont get 12v when you got the key forward but when u try to start it, it gets 12v. i checked the egi relay and it clicks and i checked the relay under the steering colum it wont click when you got the key forward but when you start it, it clicks. i checked the spark and its good. i jumped the fuel pump at the connector under the hood and turned the key forward and it skeet's out at the main fuel line under the hood. so i don't know whats up with it. i have not tried to deflood it because i need to figure out why the pump wont come on when you got the key forward first. please help!!

The fuel pump will not run with the key in the on position if the motor is not running. The air flow meter (AFM) has a safety switch built into it that breaks the connection when the engine isn't running. Unless you prop the AFM door open or jumper the test connector (fsm or haynes will tell you which one), the pump will not see 12V.

No problem. It sounds like you might have some classic hot start problems. If it floods a lot, consider getting the fuel injectors cleaned.

rx-7s are like pets. it takes time for them to have a liking for you and likewise for the driver.
