Car buying tips and warnings

Hey I'll be purchasing my first 3rd gen real soon and was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on what to look for. I bought a compression tester to test for broken apex seals, I know to look for leaks and other obvious stuff. But is there anything else I should look for as far as test driving or any other inspections.

Also, should I get one thats already had a rebuild or one on the orginal motor. Here in Florida the average price seem to be between 13 and 16k. are those ok prices.

Thanks

Original motors last between 50k-120k. 80k being average for a stock setup. It's pretty common knowledge that they will eventually wear out in a stock car no matter how well you take care of it. So the price of a car vs. the engine is based more on how much life is left in the motor, whether it's the original or rebuilt.

Said another way, if you have two identical cars with 80k on the clock. One has an original motor and one with a fresh reman with good compression and rebuilt by a reputable shop - the one with the fresh engine will be worth a lot more. The one with the original engine should sell a lot lower, knowing the next owner will probably need a new engine in the next 20k, almost certainly in the next 40k.
