why would you want to? its not like you can actually sit in them unless you don't have legs.

Yes you can install the seats. However you can't install any legroom.

The japanese models with the seats were there because some buyers would rather have had 4 seats even if it nobody ever sat in them.

True. I have a 4 seater FD and it would be impossible to sit back there. No word of a lie I do not think my 6 year old would fit.

I do feel the seats look much better compared to the bins but they are useless if you think you can fit a passenger in them.

I have tried HARD to get my kids booster seat in the back seat. No go. I have a younger child as well, his seat is a bit different in design and it too would not fit.
The only way I can see them in the car is if I don't put them in there properly and I wanted their feet all over the back of the passenger/driver seat.

They're more like buckets than seats, but I agree I think they look better than the bins.

Bins are pretty much useless too, unless you're going to put a battery in one lol.

I think it pretty much boils down to which look you like better. To swap to the seats you need the bottom seat, seat back, belts and the rear seat quarter panels. I suppose you could just replace the seats and not install belts, since no one will be sitting there anyway

When I took an FD for a test drive, I had my wife and mother in law sitting in the back. It was somewhat ok for a short distance, but that made everyone very uncomfortable.

On a side note, I woulg gladly trade my rear seats for the bins!

Your choice on what to decide. But if you are heavily modding it, it would be in your best interest to keep the bins for the battery/fuse boxes/premix. Just a small opinion.

If you're short, I'm sure you could fit some other short people in the back (with the driver seat fully forward).
However, I'm not a fan of torture. I'd never want someone back there lol

My wife is 4'10" and my 5 year old daughter still isn't that comfortable in the back. I'm considering pulling the back seat to put in a harness bar and maybe half cage, but that would start me on the path to more track then street...

The bins are very useful. i keep paper towels, oil, fuel lube, and soon will be placing cold fire in them. i always thought it was a nifty, well thought feature.

Leg room can be adjusted, but my head is pretty close to the ceiling in the driver seat, i couldn't imagine an back seat.
BTW was the 4 seater a 2+2 model with a little stretch to it like the 300ZXs? Did all seats come in leather?

I love my JDM rear seat conversion. I think they look much better than the bins. I can stand a duffel bag upright in them, gaining more storage (wouldn't fit with the bins), or throw a backpack, coat, etc back there and it won't slid all over the place.

I really got them so I can bring my little dog on road trips or longer distances. My wife is 5'3" and she has ride in the backseat for over an hour without complaint. This is of course with the passenger front seat slid up a little. With the front seats all the way back they touch the rears, so yeah, no leg room.

Lmao what? I keep tools, paper towels, a shop book, zip ties, duct tape, etc etc etc in them. I was working on modifying the DSM to take FC bins before I got my FC. The back seat in the dsm is more than useless as well, and it would look much cleaner if it where just flat all the way across like the rx7 with some bins in there for storage purposes.

No. The wheelbase was identical.

FWIW, his post was over two years old. But I agree, despite the odd shape I've found them handy to keep misc. stuff in too.

the FD bins are also half the size of FC bins, you can't even fit a 2 liter bottle into an FD bin.

but such is the cost of owning an FD.
