Buying rx7 some advice

I'm buying a rx7 series 8 next month, ever since i was 11 i wanted it was my dream car. Now i'm 26, i have never really driven one before or been inside it except look at it. But hear great things bout it fast and great handling.

I done my research on it, and i went and ask my cousin from the states to buy me car parts for it. Like NGK platnium spark plugs, NGK ignition leads, new PCV valve, K&N filter now im wondering what other tune up parts i would need, what is the best brake pad for it and disk. Suspension and anything else im missing out. Because the parts in the states are more then %60 cheaper over then then aus. As we get taxed heavily

I know this guy in the states who got me the entire LED bulb kit for my other cars lexus and nissan. Can you guys tell me what lights does the car have inside the car so i can tell the guy to get it for me as he don't know if there dome lights and so on. Also the headlights i planning on getting a HID kit for it i already bought the fog light kit. But noticed the headlight open up, does it use a single bulb for both normal light and high beam like some cars.

Or does it use 2 light bulbs, do i need to buy 4 single gets or just a bixenon kit.

Whats the best oil for this car as i went out and purchased royal purple engine oil for it 10w40 and how many litres does the auto gearbox and diff take. As i bought 5 liters of each mind these are super expensive in aus. Sorry for the big thread but need some help to get all the parts first as hes shipping it out to me next week.

So you're buying parts for a car you haven't seen yet, but intend to buy?

Go to the 3rd Gen. Section section and start reading. Lots of good info for a new owner.

My advice for you is to find someone that has worked on rx7 before and take them with you. You don't want to get screw like I did because the more I've been working in my car the more I'm finding out what the seller lied to me bout the car. Regardless of what gen you decide to get.

You DO NOT want to buy a car that you know nothing about, that will be a very costly mistake especially with rotaries. Good Luck tho

In Aus we got series models up to series 8 which were the last ediiton. Thats the one im buying, , now im abit confused with spark plugs NGK offers two of the best plugs on the website, yet same price, but they have differnt numbers Mazda RX-7 NGK BUR7EQ BUR9EQ Spark Plugs, Set of 4

ˆread that you put both of them in, and some other guy told me to just use BUR7EQ or straight BUR9EQ. Bit lost is it good to mix and matach the plugs ot use just one plug. It says on for the BUr7EQ is the leading and the Bur9EQ is trailing. I don't know whats thats ment to mean but can you guys tell me whats best.

BY the way im buying a 2001 series 8 rx7, and won last thing i also own a nissan 300zx i bought this full leather interior with chair and its all black with red Z logo on the chairs double stitched. It looks really great but im not selling it to get the sexy rx7, does anybody know if there is a kit like it i cn buy for my car. I paid $800 for mine last yr and $1300 to install it.

Here is the link his priced has dropped over the years.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nissan-300ZX...1663ac&vxp=mtr

It includes chairs as well and u can choose any custom colour you want i had mine sleek double red sticked in black everywhwere with red z logo.

Is there one or anyone knows where i can buy a kit like full leather, as i dont really like thematerials in the car im buying.

Hey guys now im stuck with buying the best brake pads, are bendix ultimate good, my mate reckons brembo pads are the best, then i came across EBC Redstuff Brake Pads, they are supposly give you better %30 stoppage distance when you drive at 100KM. Any suggestions on whats the best pads i can get, and what about. does the rx7 come with slotted disk brakes rotors or what ever they are called. If not what would you guys reconmend., and last question for is does the car have braided brake lines, if not what brand do you reconmend and are basically they all the same.

In Aus we have rx7 up to series 8 which is i am getting a 2001 edition, so im assuming when you guys ask me to get a series 3 its a 8 right.

Slap-

I believe earlier in the thread there are some people who didn't realize you were talking about a 3rd Gen and for some reason thought you were talking about a 1st Gen. In the US, many new owners don't realize a S8 = last generation of the FD's.

Personally it sounds like you are in a little over your head and the moment and I strongly suggest you listen to SgtBlue and spend a good week reading through all the new owners FAQs in the 3rd Gen Section.

I'd also strongly suggest you find a knowledgeable rotary shop in your area to do things such as a compression check in the engine. If you are asking about LED lights for this car as a new owner, you are asking the wrong questions and could be in for a very expensive mistake.

I come from a rx8 background and I'm still learning the rx7's so I'll easily stand corrected . But I think royal purple isn't so good in the diff and tranny.

Slaps-

Go into the 3rd Gen Section of the site. Read the FAQs. Every question you asked has been answered for you there. Good luck.
