buying a rx7 questions
i am looking into buying a 93 VR R1 and i was told that the power could be dramaticly increased by just dyno tuning it. is this true or do you have to dump money into bigger turbos or single turbo, cuz thats the last thing i want to do after spending 10000+ on a new car. also i will have the option to get a nice single turbo kit with the car, how much hp does that ushually make
thank you to anyone that can help me out

The stock twins will get you 350rwhp. You'll need an upgraded fuel system, intercooler, intake, exhaust, ECU + tuning, and other stuff like an upgraded radiator and bunch of maintenance work. It will cost less than $10k unless you're paying a shop for all of the work, in which case I'm not sure what the total bill would be. To go much above 400 you'll need to spend for the single turbo. 350 might not seem like a big number but it will beat a lot of other cars that have bigger hp and weigh more.
I will mention this: if you want big power on the cheap, find another car. Most FDs need a couple (few?) grand for maintenance before you should be doing anything for power. The FD does some things really well but cheap reliable dyno HP isn't one of those things.
If you decide to mod for more power, make damn sure you know what you're doign (lots of info here in this forum) or you're entrusting it to a rotary shop that knows what they're doing. Many FD motors have been blown up by shops and owners who bolt stuff on or play with the tuning and make a mistake. FDs are not mistake-tolerant.
