alternator
hey i have an 84 gsl-se and when i turn on the lights my radio does not work, i have a feeling, well i would say all my friends think the alternator is way to old to run a new radio, what kind of alternator cani put in to replace my stock one that is more powerful?

I don't think it's the alternator. But, you can put a second gen alt in a first gen, it will give you a few more amps. You can also go the FD route, but it will take some wiring.

you should first check all your primary electrical connections for corrosion, it could be something as simple as that i've had that happen before, if you have a multimeter just check the voltage while the car is running should be around 14 volts

Also, if it is an aftermarket radio, make sure wiring is correct. If you connect the ground wire from the radio to some exisitng connector of the car, it may short-circuit and burn the fuse when you turn on the lights. Make sure to ground the wire to the chasis.
