First Row
Bought the master rebuild kit from Northern Auto
Gravel guarded inside
Pick and pulled ( PS pump/alt/ etc etc)
Painted covers
got crank back in
Second Row
got my buddy to press pistons in at school
threw em in
Third Row
Rockers in.
Garage after everything was done
Motor mounts in and ready
had to clearance the oil pan 1/4"x5
rebuilt pumps..
But yeah thats where i am right now... i have no background in mechanics, just been reading a ton on the internet.
So positive feedback/help advice would be nice.
Its going to put into drift events hopefully.. so thats the spec.

That's pretty cheap compared to the 13B rebuild prices. What's included in the rebuild kit?

Everything in that 1 picture, (new cam, timing belt, lifters, pistons, main/crank/ all bearing, gaskets, New oil pump/screen/shaft) was 297$ after tax. Cost me 100$ to ship it here and 50$ duty, gotta hate canada for stealing 50% of the value of your purchase.
As fas as everything else i live like right beside pick n pull (local used parts place) so i got the PS pump/alt/stock brackets/water pump/radiator with 2 E fans for about 200$
Than the mot expensive part was the stupid Grannys Mount which took like a month but was worth every penny. Had an Aluminum Stud that like perfectly went through my subframe than had like 3 other mounting points (was kind of pissed off when it first came here, looked easy to make). Cost me around 500$ than only 40$ for engine/tranny mounts.
But yeah kinda looking at the whole of things right now it was definitely WAAAAY more work than i anticipated as far as time. Money department id say 6 grand is what ill be into it after all the coilovers and crap. ( car cost 1500 but had a bunch of stupid funky subs and rims that i got rid of, so probably 900ish)
Regretts.. 4 bolt main, and roller cam for the additional 50$. Northern Auto was Great. they made sure there was a 30-40$ part that i wanted to add on(forged aluminum pistons extra 130$). You can really get silly with these things.

88 FC Drift Spec SBC 350 rebuild
K i am re-making this thread because im an idiot and uploaded all the other pictures in every other way than the right way. All i have done is weld the diff and get Stance GR+ Coilovers.
this is the only picture i have before i did anything to the car (just screwing around with my lil sister)
13B pulled
ill take like 300$ for this thing with the tranny(it has no compression and can roll in gear, also the tranny was doing some stuff you dont want trannys to do)
1994 TBI SBC 350(200$ shipped to my front door)
Im extremely organized
the dash
ENGINE APART!

Well the block came back from the machine shop, I kept all the standard sizing. got it dipped/honed than painted it.
Bought myself a lapping tool/compound and lapped the valves. Than threw the heads in the sink and scrubbed the bejeebus out of them & cleaned carbon.
the old pistons and all my other stuff crammed in a box
engine bay ready to paint.

K so my first time ever painting was a COMPLETE AND UTTER FAILURE. It kinda looks nice in the picture thought haha.. the day i pained it we had like a 1 week -30 degree spree of crap. the whole thing ended up running everywhere and just looking awful. GRAVEL GUARD TO THE RESCUE!!!
So i bought a welder... its kinda been on my to-do list. than started given er on the struts.

Notice that sexy gravel guard cover up.. ohh yeaaah
fiberglassed all the holes shut than bondo!!!
i only needed the signal light everything else ill have to figure out. the cats.. why not.

do carb'd cars do well in drifting? i would think that the fuel slosh in the float bowl would cause hesitation or stutter in longer drifts.
also with seam welding.. you want to stitch it.. 1" of weld, 1" of space.. the metal and joints are actually stronger than a full length weld.

Ummm everything was kept stock.. i was more or less curious what was happening in that black box of power we call an engine. now i know more!! yay.
Forgot to post this... bought the gravel guard gun and compressor and went nuts
i live like right beside pick n pull (local used parts place) so i got the PS pump/alt/stock brackets/water pump/radiator with 2 E fans for about 200$
My lack of job is starting to make me do pointless things.. including 2000$ on my student line of credit. I JUST CANT STOPPP!
Well i got my reading glasses on and the torque wrench..
Well i got my reading glasses on and the torque wrench..
Went to the college and got my pistons pressed on. The hammer just wasnt cuttin it. those suckers are good at not moving.
Had to torch the **** outa em.
Kinda startin to look like an engine!

Yup, anyone who rebuilds an engine needs to take a picture of the pistons. So i did.
ALL DONE!
I did some research and i guess a couple people had to do this mod to make their oil pan fit.. i can only have the engine hoist for a day so i just did it. Its a cut about 1/4" down and 5" wide and supposedly my power steering rack was going to get a little to close.
AND this is where i am today. I just rebuild my water pump/oil pump because the gasket set i bought had them. than painted em black
Ill put one more pic of the grannys mount for anyone who is curious, plus the mounts on top

As far as the welding it probably made my car weaker it was such a hack job, i was stoned confident and had a new welder.. bad combo
Back to the EFI thing i did look into it and i can get a Holley ECU with the wiring harness for 500$ locally but i think its going to start adding up really quick with all the sensors. any advice? does anyone know if carb'd cars drift? it would only cost about 400$ to get it running if they did.

It seems like everything is cheaper to rebuild than a 13B. My friend has a 1966 Mustang Fastback that has a 289 V8 in it. He is going to buy a donor shell for the engine as unfortunately the Fastback is too far gone due to fire damage. He found a rebuild kit that has everything for around $335. Even with new pistons. The mass produced nature of those engines combined with multiple vendors making parts helps drive down prices.
