93 Bose System/Speakers problem
I have a Bose Acoustic Wave system in my 93 RX7. All I'm getting out of the bose system in the rear and my driver side door is static. I took it to an audio place in town and they told me it was the rear speakers. With the wave system, there are no rear speakers. I was going to try to replace the door speakers to see if that works, but I'm not familiar with how the system works. I don't want to replace speakers if I have an amplifier problem. Is anyone familiar with these systems?

Hey there;
I have the same system on mine. It sound like a bad head unit or bad speaker amps. The Bose system has Front-Left & Right speakers on the doors, a center channel speaker on the dash and the back speakers or Wave system speakers are for base not to be confused with a boom box, this was intended to give the sound an extra kick on the base side. I personally love the base out of it since I believe on clean sound for myself inside the car and not for the neighbors with a rattling license plate. Each component has its own amplifier that the speaker mounts onto with the exception of the rear Wave sys that has one amp and its located on the wave assembly on the left side (It's a silver metal box), closer to you if standing in front of the open trunk.
My suggestion, don't take it to a sound shop cus they have no clue about this system and they might even jack up your wiring and do crappy installs just to get sound out and take your money. The Rx7, someone correct me if I'm wrong was one of the first w/the Bose Wave sys and not many people know how to work'em. I had the same problem and I had a bad stock Bose head unit and a bad rear speaker amp. I changed my head unit to an aftermarket and bought a used amp for the Wave and everything works fine. I will later get rid of the door speakers and amps and install aftermarket components.

Good luck
