'91 NA FC Cooling issues
My fc is having some issues with cooling and I am in need of some advice. The car started to over heat on me a few days ago on the interstate. I checked the fan, it was good. So, I moved on to the thermostat. Replaced the thermostat, topped it off with fluid, and it ran fine for about a day. The car is spilling coolant into the overflow tank all the time. I replaced the cap just for giggle, and of course nothing. I can't see where the water pump is leaking, but I could be wrong. I'm thinking it's either the pump or clogged radiator.
Any suggestions? Maybe there's something I'm missing?
Thanks!

For real though. Coolant seals. You've tried everything else. And it's not just a bad ground or whatever to the gauge since it's actually overheating.
A good way to test that is with the car cool, take the cap off and start the car...If after like a min it is bubbleing/boiling then it's prob the coolant seals.
Or check the radiator to see if it's clogged, but I doubt it'd be bubbleing over like that from just the rad.

If you didnt use an OEM Mazda thermostat I can take a good guess that your thermostat is the problem making it overheat. It is a pretty good idea to always use an OEM Mazda thermostat because the designs of other aftermarket thermostats are different then the OEMs which in turn makes them over heat also the cap could have just added to the problem if it isnt rated to hold the PSI your Rx-7 puts to it.

Time to upgrade! lol. If you are going to upgrade the radiator then go with Koyo or a well known brand used by other rotary heads. Definitely use OEM Mazda FC thermostats in an FC though. I personally found what the problem can turn into when you use random aftermarket thermostats. The result was blown coolant seals which in turn means blown engine which in another turn means rebuild = $1,000 to the skys the limit

I have a koyo aluminum rad in my car, and it's amazing. The OEM clutch fan and shroud seem to work great, however I like the look of electric fans better. I've heard the OEM setup is likely as good if not better than e-fans, and there's no real advantage to switching.
Any opinions on that?

All I have had is stock clutch driven cooling fans but Ive read that an e-fan offers little to no difference then the stock ones. I have read of people swapping a Ford Taurus fan into an FC too though
