I have a 1988 SE 5 speed, I would appreciate any help with how many ports I have on the pinion , as P/S fluid is starting to leak. I see 2 lines coming off the reservoir, & have been giving the run a round by diff after market sellers. Mazda has no info any longer. I am unable to get under the car , as I am beat up. Thank You....Mike

Hey Mike.
FC's have a couple different PS units.some are 2 port,some are 3 port..some are speed sensing.
Without confirmation then you are tossing it out for someone else to guess too.
Can you post a Pic(also have you tried to post a thread in Sec Gen Specific too..I saw a couple PS questions up just lately.)
..My 'guess' without pics?..it could be the Steel cooler line located at the front of the car,near the oil cooler(just corrodes and gets weak,then "Pees" Ps Fluid)...That is If the rack seals are ok, and the Hoses and pump is ok.

I am going to have to take it to a local shop, get it off the ground. That 2 or 3 port is my question. P/S fluid is spread out pretty good on the rack, but the reservoir dip stick shows ok. I hope it is just a bad line, as installing a new rack looks pretty time consuming. I don't have a camera, can't post Pics. Thank's 4 responding.
