So I've had my 87 GXL NA for a while now. I have been tossing around the idea of getting a turbo for it, but the failing 3rd gear in my transmission has motivated me to explore my options. This topic has probably been done to death in general, however I really need the expertise of others before I make this kind of commitment. Thanks for any help, and I apologize in advance for the repeat of topics I was kinda dazed when I was trying to comprehend rotaryresurrection's guide. If this can be answered with a link than be a pal for me and link away.
So here goes...
I found an engine for sale, it is a JDM 13B turbo from an S5 90-91, 25-50k miles on it. Comes with the 5 speed manual transmission, engine wiring, ecu, power steering pump, started, ac compressor, alternator, intake and exhaust manifolds, distributor, and intercooler. Listed at $1200 USD +300 shipping.
What do you all think of this pricing, and are there other parts that need to be changed for this swap? If I can find a similar year engine would it be more compatible with my current parts?
From what I have read thus far, aaroncake's site didn't quiet cover my situation, and rotaryresurrection gleaned it but was a little confusing in the organization of their information. This should be the simplest of my options, I have the shop manual for my car and have done all minor work myself so far, so I am familiar with it now. I am really just trying to figure out if I am looking at a cost of $1500 for what I found so far, or potentially $2500 for a list of parts that I don't yet know about. Thanks in advance.

Well, just shows what a night of good sleep will do for ya.
I reviewed rotaryresurrection and gave myself a kick in the ***, sorry to waste the space but I think he actually did cover this well enough for me to answer it with the FAQ provided. I just missed it or was too confused to catch it. Thanks anyway.
