IN 79 RX7 Wheels

I recently got back into a 7, love the car but not the stock wheels. I'm looking at some Koing 15x7 wheels with a 20 offset. Recommended tire size is 205 50 15. Does anyone know if these wheels will fit on my stock 79? I read a few threads that mention other 1st gen guys running this size wheel but they did not say if they made any mods to make them fit. Does anyone have a picture of the koing 15x7 rewinds mounted on a 1 gen?

IN 1st gen tire size 205/60/15?

Months later I deceided to move forward with the Konig Rewinds. I choose the silver wheels for my red seven. I will post pics after I get them installed so you guys can check it out.

Question
I see in other threads that a 205-50-15 tire will fit, has anyone tried a 205-60-15? Do you think a 205-60-15 tire would work on a 15x7 wheels with a 20 offset?

I'm asking because I know someone that has a set of four in his garage. If they fit I may run them for some time until I can save up for the tires I really want. 205-50-15 Yoka S Drive......

IN 79, new wheel pic.

I installed the rewinds 15x7 20 offset with no trouble on my stock 79. Found some used Dunlop 195/60/15 tires, no rubbing but close. Car looks pretty stout now. I love the new wheels. Your thoughts?

Smile nice wheels

hey the car looks much better with the new wheels. one question i called around trying to find some 15's as well and they told me i should look for a 35-45 offset. how are the 20 offset's doing? do they hang out a little? also wish they had more options for this lug pattern so far it seems like the konigs or panasport. thanks

the 205/60 should be ok if ur at stock ride height. if u have any scrubbing issues they're probably cheap enough to make them do til u can get another set.

IN 79 Wheel Options

I have looked and looked and looked and looked for wheels for my 79's. What I found, you can find used wheel and pay more than new ones, or you can go with the rewinds. I thinnk the rewinds look great on my car. I like the silver better than the graphite, but to each their own.
My stock waffel wheels are in great shape but I wanted a bigger stance and man did it make a huge improvment. The 20 offset moves the tire closer to the shock, the rim does not hang out passed the wheel well. they look like they should be on the car. A great compliment to the RX7.

I'm having some trouble with wheel shake. Plan to install hubsentric rings soon. Hope that cures it. I cannot stand wheel shake, ecpsecially when my stock wheel where smooth no matter what speed I was driving.

Ordered the wheel from discounttire.com $400 delieverd. Tought to beat that.

IN 79 tire size

I went with a good used set of Dunlop sport A2 195/60/15. Not much room left between the tire and the shock. 205/50/15 may fit but it might rub.

Dunlop's ride better than I thought. They are pretty quiet and look nice. I was looking at the Yako S drive because the reviews said they ride good and are quiet for a z rated tire. since I found the dunlop's I will keep them if I can get rid of the wheel shake. If not I will put the stock wheels back on and wait until I can justify another $400 for new Yoka's.

Thank you for your input.
