1985 RX7 GSL-SE: beautiful condition, but has 2 urgent needs
I have a really nice rx7, silver with burgundy leather interior,
The car is backfiring, and I think I need to replace the cat-con (in order to pass AirCare- the hydrocarbon driving test was too high).
Also, the light switch for the headlights is kaputt-- can this switch be repaired or where can i find a replacement.
thanks for your help!

You should be able to buy a replacement cat from any of the auto parts stores. However, before you do that, make sure the car is in good tune because if it isn't running properly, you'll just fail the test again and kill the new cat.
Replace plugs, wires, filters, check the TPS, verify the ACV is working. If the injectors have never been serviced, have them professionally cleaned.
Not sure on the headlight switch, maybe someone else will answer that one....

Headlight switch in Saskatchewan
Hi Richard I have a couple of 86 gsl I don't know if they interchange or not but I think they might .. I know the one works because I was playing with all that stuff before I decommissioned them Arron Cake would know if they will interchange .. Only one problem The thermometer hit -25 this morning and the switch is still in the car.. But I think quite a bit of the plastic is removed already so it might not be to bad If you are interested let me Know , ( shipping shouldn't be bad for in Canada post ) and we will have a chat.. I don't think you will ever buy a new one ..
