1984 rx7 S fuel system problems
hi everyone and thank you in advance i have a few questions about the fuel system on my 1984 Mazda rx7 S model i am a little confused with the fuel system the gas tank was already takin out when i purchased it and due to some unfortunate events it was thrown away. i have looked online and from pictures that i have seen of the fuel tank it appears that the fuel tank has two things similar to a fuel sending unit in the tank. one has just metal tubes with a screen and the other one seems to have the fuel pump and fuel level gauge. so my question is, is this true? do they have two separate fuel sending unit style things in the tank? if they do what do each do? i understand the sending unit purpose in something simple like a older chevy truck but with the mazda possibly having two it has me pretty confused i only have the one with the tubes and fuel screen so im trying to also figure out if i need to buy the other one.
2.also i have to hook up all the fuel lines and i am not sure were they all go so if anyone has a diagram of the fuel system it would help me greatly
3. i have to purchase a fuel tank for this car and im having trouble finding one and just looking for some advice on places to look
thank you all for reading and i greatly appreciate all the help

For parts you can gain posts( because you need TEN posts to place an Ad in the Forum's Classifieds Section).
As far as the sending unit it is a sender for the gauge But that assembly holds a fuel pump on it that pumps fuel to the engine.(you can verify that IF you look at some threads in the 1st Gen Specific Section or download the Factory service manual at Foxed.ca)
I am not a 1st gen guy so I can't tell you the exact components as I am thinking that the 1st gen had 2 set ups.
One for carbed and one for EFI.
You should be able to get more input as time goes by,or if you search some material posted on the Forum

Well I sure appreciate the help and yes I did see that the one fuel sending unit had the fuel pump for sending the fuel to the carburetor and it also had the fuel level indicator on it too but there was a whole separate sending unit that didn't have anything but three metal lines and one had a metal screen on it and I'm just confused as to why there would be two separate sending units

And like I said this is just what I seen in a diagram the diagram made it appear that there were two separate fuel sending units but I do not have the gas tank and I only have this one thing that looks like a sending unit that just has the 3 metal lines with one metal screen attached to the end of the line but from what the diagram shows I should also have a whole nother thing that looks like a sending unit that has the fuel pump and the fuel level indicator on it that also goes into the fuel tank and I'm just wondering if that is correct

The fuel pump for a first gen 12A engine is outside the tank. It sits just after of the drivers seat under the car. There is a plate that can be taken down that holds the pump. The power to the pump runs to the bin area behind the drivers seat and through a grommet to the outside. There is also a fuel pump relay just under the dash where your right knee would go.
