Getting my engine started for the 1st time, engine is brand new from Mazda so I am pretty confident that there isn't anything mechanically wrong. Filled the engine up with oil and started cranking and I am not getting oil pressure. Oil seems to be flowing, as I have pulled the oil lines from the oil cooler return and they have oil. I'm am waiting for oil to come up from the top port(turbo feed) on the front iron but not getting anything coming up.
My question is are there in "tricks" for priming the engine? Do I just need to crank for a solid minute to build some pressure?
if everything is new including the oil lines, you will have to crank it for a while before oil starts coming out of the turbo oil feed line. new engine, new oil coolers, new lines, we see its ~6-7qts of oil needed to prime everything and have the correct amount in the pan. keep cranking until oil comes out of the turbo oil feed line where it attaches to the turbo. stick the end of the hose in a water bottle. you'll know when to stop when you have a steady stream of oil coming out, no bubbles or air pockets
