Ok my 1979 SA is leaking oil from somewhere and i cant quite pin point the location, it will pool up on the rear half of the engine by where it says mazda 12a. its also all over the oil pan, transmission, and exhaust pipe. this is not a bad leak its fairly slow but it smokes for awhile from the oil burning on the exhaust. i dont think its coming out of the engine itself but more like the oil filter or somethin. any ideas? THANKS!

 

there's O rings under the oil filter pedestal. u should get some engine degreaser and clean all the oil off the engine so u can see where it's coming from. since u have an sa it has the front mount oil cooler so changing the O rings wont be too much of a pain.

 

i found the leaks, its in every part where the engine comes togeather, i think it needs re-built.

The good news is, you can usually find used 12a's fairly cheap...

why is it known as that? i cand rebuild it and fix it? its only got 44xxx miles.
