*add coolant* warning light + signal.

1988 RX7 Vert NA Stock

Ok the last time I remember seeing this light was when the heater core hose broke, but that problem is fixed already. Just recently, during NIGHT time only, the signal goes off for a bit, then it shuts off when I give it some gas. Then sometime later goes on/off again and again. I do a check around the whole entire car and find no coolant leak etc. My thermostat reads good at normal temperature and I even got it serviced yesterday. I told the mechanic this incident but I guess he couldn't duplicate the problem.

Just so you know, my clock does the same thing but the coolant signal one is hella annoying. I figure it might be an electrical thing because the light pops on pretty bright at night time and I know for fact that these thing should be a little bit dim and very bright during daytime. Therefore I guess there is too much current going into the system?

Anyways, thanks for reading. It'll be great for other fellow members to lecture/corrrect me.

There may be air bubbles around the sensor, or the sensor may be intermittant. Top off the coolant and then with the car hot, loosen the sensor SLIGHTLY and allow some coolant to seep out. This may bleed off all the air.

If the sensor has failed, they are $15 at the dealer.

Ok thank you! Just want to confirm, the sensor is located in the coolant tank in the front?

Gonna go home and check the shop manual later

Yes. Check the wiring to it as well.

Try grounding out the harness side of the connector. Does the buzzer stop? If so, then the rest of the wiring is OK and the problem lies with the sensor.

Funny thing is that my water level sensor failed this past Thursday. Currently running with it grounded out to stop the buzzing but this terrifies me. New one should be at the dealer on Tuesday.

The signal/buzzer went off a few times today, I proceeded to do the procedure you have mention a few times. The first few times I did it, the signal/buzzer went back on later but not as often as before. Later I did a final one as I had the buzzer buzzing at a complete stop, I slowly loosen the sensor until it slowly fizzes coolant/air bubble out, after that, I clean it and tighten it back, the buzzer is gone so I assume this problem should be fixed.

Anyways, thanks Aaron Cake. I'm planning to change all the sensors in the car pretty soon as I am "restoring" it to its "showroom" condition. The car itself is in really good condition but I think a lot of the old stuff needs to be gone.
