Regular snows work fine for the most part, just get them for your skinniest rims. Just drive deliberately and don't speed and she does fine. There are a few threads in the 2nd gen section with more opinions.

I didn't like the sadbags when I had them in the back, it improved rear traction, but at the expense of front traction. I really felt the steering and braking ability of the car decreased and I removed the the bags after a week.

i drove my 2nd gen all through the winter last year. I loved it. I still wish i had my coupe for this winter. I had a 40 mile round trip trek to work up and down some pretty scary roads. It was fun. I just imagined that it was the Initial D episode where Takumi;s GF was kinda kidnapped by the dude in the awd celica. Although im into drifting and there was a free fairly safe way to drift. PS for the people who disagree. I worked 2nd 3 rd shift and the roads are baren.

the trick with the sandbags is not to put them in the hatch, but rather put them behind the seats. I drove my FB in a ton of snow that way for 3 winters. 2 sandbags behind each seat takes up no room. Skinny tires and that extra weight made all the difference.
I just left the bags in there all winter and removed them in the spring.

I dont like the cement mix bags because if those ******* get wet LOOK OUT!

when i first had my t2, i drove her for 2 winters in the snow. First winter was with crappy stock size 205 tires, and it was great, no problems what so ever. 2nd winter I had 225 es100s and it wasnt the most fun Ive ever had.

i just bought an $800 saab 900 S

good beater, DD and winter car

saves on insurance and gas

keeps my seven out of the snow

i reccommend that you just buy a beater, its cheaper than good snow tires anyways (mine came with snow tires)

btw i live in bethel, CT

how exactly do you plan on driving a car in the snow with no heat?

the engine alone should create enough heat to keep atleast his toes nice and toasty. but seriously, it should.

you cant drive a car in the snow with no heat, the windows ice over and your blind.
Never mind your feet getting numb.

Trust me- I had the fan go out in my truck once, even the dual exaust running underneath it would not warm me, then the windows would get iced over and you were blind.
Open the window to even it all out and you would freeze to death.

you say that now, until you have no heat

there is a difference between no heat and the window open or crappy heat

plow snow for 12 years and you will see how driving in the snow is no joke when you have no heat!
