VA folks!
Sup everyone, I'll be moving to VA (norfolk area) in about a month or so and wanted to know how's the rotary scene over there. Are there any meets? good shops? are old school rotaries hard to come by? any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

I just moved to the area as well. Looking for a dyno shop.
I found out Mike at Cavalier Mazda in Chesapeake is a huge speedsource fan.
A guy who works at the O'reilly off of high st in churchland area of Portsmouth is a rx7 guy.

It seems the guys in VA are abit spread out. Some are around the major cities, Richmond, VA beach/Hampton Roads area. But if you move west, doesn't seem to be much of anyone or any groups. I live about 45 minutes to an hour give or take to NC over in Lynchburg area,

There used to be a place in Norfolk (Jenro's) that the RX-7 owners (and other clubs) would meet up but that was shut down this past fall. Haven't hear that there is a new place or not. I haven't gotten mine on the road yet to see!

What's up guys. The RX scene in South East VA isn't huge, but there are a few of us. Not sure if we are talking about the same "Mike", but I also know a Mike who runs Angel Motorsports. It's a shop that specializes in mostly rotary's, but they do other work too. Recently they did a RHD swap on a 95 (or something) Supra. Anyway, I have a MB 94 FD, Mike has a 93 FD that is fast as hell, some kid has a yellow FD, Mike's girl has a black 93 FD, and there is another guy with a MB 93 FD. Aside from those FDs, I really don't think there are many others. But, there are a bunch of FCs around the area, and maybe a few FBs.
We met last Saturday at the Kroger parking lot in Red Mill. Don't think we will have too many other meets for a few months with it being this damn cold lately. Anyway, add me on facebook. Should be linked to this profile.

I saw a kid driving a black FD with aluminum colored five spoke wheels at a light in Chesapeake, asked him if I could look at his car, he said OK and then just kept going. Oh well, he just lost a good contact.

There are a few of us old school guys around. There are a lot more people that what you think. Some of us have different crowds with different views.....
I don't like to hang out with people that like to do burnouts and act like they are fast and furious. Take it to track to see how fast it is...
As far as old school cars, you will not find one unless you search everyday, three times a day, and usually they are not here. I bought an RX-3 wagon years ago locally that I had to build from scratch. My R100, My Cosmo, 2nd RX-3 wagon all came from Kentucky, Sterling, VA, and Ohio.
I own a 1985 RX-7 GSL-SE that spends more time as garage queen than running around. However, I can drive my car ANYWHERE with no hesitation and worries about popping my engine. My goal is drive-ability and reliability, not speed.
I know of three reputable builders that can build an engine that I can vouch personally. Their engines have not broken yet.
RaksJ04 - I know a guy in Chesapeake that rebuilds all kinds of diffs. He is known for rebuilding Jeeps, but even the dealerships give him the thumbs up. You can buy a master kit with shims and he can rebuild and set up. He rebuilt my front diff on my Jeep with ring and pinion swap at half cost of the dealerships.
When the weather is nice, I drive to Norfolk, VA Beach, Chesapeake, nothing specific, just drive for fun. There are more people out there, just the age brackets differ.
Good luck...
