Uconn Car Club Car Show!!!! April 9th!!!
Good Evening ladies and gentlemen. This Year's UCONN CAR CLUB CAR SHOW will be held on Sunday, April 9th 2006!!! Spread the word! Now I'm sure you're wondering, first, why we picked the 2nd week in april, and second, why we picked a sunday. The 3rd weekend in april, 15th/16th is Easter Weekend, and the 4th weekend in april is that special time of year that all car enthousiasts park at eastern. Our only option was the 2nd weekend. We originally wanted saturday, however that's Open House and UConn says they need W-Lot as an overflow lot for incoming families. So our ONLY option is Sunday. It's sunday or bust, come rain or come shine. Open house will be a Great time for us to promote the show! While incoming families are sitting in 195 traffic they can take a gander at a couple strategically placed road side banners and signs.
In all seriousness though, we have a lot of work to do before hand. Our goal is to break the 300 automotive attendance mark and strive for 500 cars this spring. We absolutely have the potential to host one of the largest spring shows in the region. For all of those who were not around since the begining, our first show was in the fall of '03 and on 3 to 4 days notice we were able to scrape together 50-60 cars. Come Spring of '04 with a 10-12 day notice we saw numbers approaching the 150 car mark. Spring of '05 brought in 250+ automobiles, thousands of spectators, and a couple super cars; Porsche GT2 and a Ferrari Testarossa.
The #1 reason for the numbers from last year relied heavily on early commitments of whole clubs months before the show. If I remember correctly, our club sign in sheet had 12-15 registered clubs in attendance.

it still doesn't belong with porsche's and ferrari's. There are 3 domestics that will regularly blow its wheels off...and it really doesn't belong in that category. just an fyi, when i do my car show, i will put the viper in its proper place...in the mopar section.

And i will keep viper in what i believe is its proper space, the exotics...
For many reasons, when you look out in a parking lot, a may see some stangs etc but never a viper. Its a different level than most mopars and I strongly believe its more than a mopar and should be considerd an exotic.
But to keep this on topic and about this post!...Car show is this sunday!

Does not look good for your car show. I just talked to the football coaches and they said you got 3" of snow and its supposed to rain on Saturday. The rotary gods would have smiled on you if we had a class for Mazda's!
