calculator is on rx7.com

apparently if i put my primaries and secondaries as 1600's and add on 2 additional injectors at 1600, all with 80% duty cycle i can have 1100hp hehehe

sinned2545 01-05-10 05:39 PM

^ lol.....
Yeah it calculates hp to the flywheel..... To figure out what it is%

sinned2545 01-05-10 06:54 PM

im leaving now... warming up the RX...

vrtkevin 01-05-10 06:54 PM

I went with 870cc primary and 1680cc secondary but I am shooting for 450whp

Supernaut 01-05-10 07:01 PM

Have a fun night fellas!!

NJpopups 01-05-10 11:43 PM

Yeah I'm shooting for high 400s so I think 720 / 1600 combo looks good. Can't wait to drop this microtech in.

helghast7 01-06-10 01:35 AM

quit slacken andy, we miss u!! lol

stinksause 01-06-10 09:43 AM

thanks for the warm welcome guys ... When I left, I was more confused than when I got there.

Basically I got this:
Rx7 for power, having fun with rebuilding ur engine, respect from enthusiasts

Rx8 for handling, reliability, respect from the ladies

Most people suggest that I should go with the 8, However most of the 8 owners I talked to admitted that they want a 7, but most of the 7 owners never say, "Yo man, I wish a had an 8..."

stinksause 01-06-10 09:49 AM

i give up... i guess I will have some regrets w.e I go with it'll prolly go down to where I can get a better deal

NJpopups 01-06-10 11:49 AM

Just get the 7 more power is more fun. I agree I don't think I've ever heard a 7 owner interested in the 8 from a performance stand point besides my mechanic. And he grenaded 3 rx8 trannys haha

ozzie m 01-06-10 11:54 AM

FD all the way!.....Hey Andy dont feel bad havent been there in 3 weeks...i guess i will have to bring in my truck...want me to pick you next week?...lol

You get respect from enthusiast in a 8 as well..... and a few meets me and omar went too, Where there were porches and Ferrari. they gave props to Omars (Sliver rx8) car cause they were surprised on what it was capable of.

I think its really a power issue....
For right now the max im seeing on rx8 are 400whp. If you can live with that, then its really an issue on looks.

The other thing to think about is a 400whp rx7 is nothing..... everybody's making 400..... But a rx8 with 400.... its kinda rare. youll be one of a few.

stinksause 01-06-10 02:14 PM

whos the yellow fd in some of the pics on the rx8club thread?

sinned2545 01-06-10 02:43 PM

which one???? in the tuesday thread??

vrtkevin 01-06-10 03:03 PM

njpopups let me no how the microtech install goes. I have to do mine also.

I had a rx8 and now a fc (since I can't fit in a fd, to damn tall for it) I will only go with 7's from now on no more 8's for me unless I have extra 10 grand to fix up a 8 to make it as fast as the 7

sinned2545 01-06-10 03:17 PM

Rx8 are great cars but they don't get respect from the ladies. Some girls do like them but they aren't exactly chick magnets. Like Dennis said, the main problem is that they are underpowered. I know alot of people that like the 8s but just can't tolerate its lack of umf. Thats also non-sense about what 7 people say about 8s. I think the consensus is that 8s are great cars and might make wonderful dailys, 7 owners would never trade 7s for 8s. If you have money, buy a 7. Its just the most exciting toy I have ever owned. I'm sure alot of people will tell you the same.

Sorry I havent been around. Part of it is that I have no ride right now but the other part is that I have been busy as hell. Things aren't so ideal right now hahaha.

There are a bunch of good deals in Jersey right now. So good I've banned myself from the vehicle FS section until my FD gets done. Last I checked, there was also a nice red FD that also was serviced at IRP that was for sale. You can't go wrong with Swat though, he seems like a really nice fella, defintely not a sketchy guy. I met him at mitsuwa when I saw his car there. My sister thought I was nuts asking a stranger if they belonged to a web forum. Did he end up going to a meet? I've been trying to introduce him to Kel. Last time I spoke to him he was thinking about repainting the car.

Dave how is the build coming along?

hahah thanks Ozz for the offer. I may take you up on it. Also, I'm going to be selling my gauges pretty soon. If you havent gotten yours lemmie know if you want them. I'm probably going to sell them with my flyrx7 pod as well. I figure the next FD I get won't need them (cherry, unmodified 7 or a 3-rotor N/A).

sinned2545 01-06-10 03:55 PM

3 rotor N/A :icon_tup: but in a RHD shell:blush:

thats my next move..... after the Ferrari 355 of course

stinksause 01-06-10 03:58 PM

The One???

What do you guys think?

stinksause 01-06-10 04:01 PM

wtf ... i just set my heart on the 8 and then I go here and see those two posts ... u guys are killing me

thanks for the advice Supernaut. Just tell me one thing, I feel like FD's aren't as bad as people make them out to be (if you take care of them at least) ...... Am I right?

I am looking at this too ... but its in cali https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-rx-7-1993-2002-vehicles-107/%2A%2A%2A%2A%2A-94-mb-touring-single-turbo-392-rwhp%2A%2A%2A%2A%2A-878580/

https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-rx-7-1993-2002-vehicles-107/selling-my-93-r1-853080/

As of until mid feb .... anything above like 11 is out of my price range .... so i dont want to waste ppls time

sinned2545 01-06-10 04:15 PM

your very right ^

But the problem is the previous owner...... I feel like thats where 80% of the problems are.
Like i said ive had mine for close to 2yrs. and it was never in a shop for over 2weeks..... the longest time was when i had the turbo replaced.

and I daily drive it.... and drove it to North Carolina.

P.S. that black one is nice.... i fell in love with this one

it'll still most likely come down to w.e is the best deal for me ... so whos that yellow fd with the unpainted bumper (not spoiler) on the rx8club thread ... i think i saw it on Ave. P a few years back

Dennis is totally right. Your car has to be at a certain point to be reliable and previous owners are a big part of that. Its not to hard to maintain from there.

You also have to know the limitations of the car with whatever mods you have on there. Even a stock FD is bulletproof under a certain set of circumstances. These cars just don't break, they fail for a reason. You may have to spend alot of money refreshing small parts that need replacing. After this and doing the basic reliability mods, your car should be very reliable as long as you watch your temps and don't push the car excessively (along with maintanance that you already know about).

The problem lies with your definition of reliability and what are acceptable conditions for your car. I want to be able to get stuck in manhattan traffic for hours, not worry about my intake and water temps and still be able to drive out of it and boost to my hearts content almost immediately. For me, the bad part about owning the car is getting it to where you want it to be. After that I don't consider FD ownership difficult at all.

Here are some things that I wish I knew before I get the car.

-3-rotor N/A FDs are reliable as hell. FI is what strains the engine. The problem is that 3-rotor cars are incredibly expensive to build but I'm sure they are worth the money.
-LSx FDs aren't that expensive to build compared to what it would cost to build up an equally reliable 2-rotor turbo car.

If you do go buy an rx7 or 8 actually, along with the reliability mods mentioned time and time again on forums, I think you should have the engine pulled to make sure all the bits look fresh. Make sure the wiring is pliable, make sure the small bits around the engine don't look fragile. This might be a bit excessive but I think it will save you ALOT of headaches in the future. Alot of times when you read about problems on the forums, its usually a small bit that wears out that needs to be replaced. If all FDs that have traded hands had this done, I bet the technical support forums would be alot smaller.

I've said it many times but the FD really is the best mistake I have ever made so please don't read this as me telling you to look elsewhere. Despite all this trouble, owning an rx7 is better than what I could have ever imagined. Sometimes I think that if the rx7 was more bulletproof, I wouldn't like it as much.

Dennis you're such a rotary pimp hahaha.
