Anyone going to the NASA event this weekend on the Shenandoah circuit? I'll be there with my FD.

Be sure to get Jon Felton's advice on the course, he knows it well. He'll either be running the event or he'll be acting as instructor.

The walls are close to the track so if you go off in the wrong place it could be dangerous... When I voiced my concerns to my instructor he said, "if you are smart and don't drive beyond your limits this course is as safe as any other, if you aren't, then I don't want to be in the car with you on any course..." Made alot of sense to me.

Oh, and the point being, once you learn the shenandoah it is a fun technical course that rewards small lightweight cars over high horsepower.

I'll be flagging

Shenandoah is a very tight, technical course. I imagine it would take a while to learn it.

Cool, well look for me there in the black 93 in HPDE1. This will be my first time on Shenandoah and my first time ever tracking the FD. I've run one other HPDE at VIR and have been on the main course at Summit, both with my GVR4. Will take a lot of getting used to this new car, but hey that's the whole point right?

Hey man, sorry I didn't have any time to come and say hi. I saw a lot of improvement in your driving though, looked good out there. And solo by the end too

BTW, stock tire size is 225/50/16, not 225/40/16

P.S. get wider wheels

Hey, thanks -- I was learning a lot. That circuit is very different from the others I've been on and I'm still a total novice out there but it was a blast. Which station were you working?

Heh I snagged these wheels/tires off my other car (DSM and FD have same bolt pattern and centerbore and offset within a few mm) so ya they are a little small for the application. The FD came with a set of 17x9/17x10 forgelines with Potenza S-02s, maybe I'll use those next time The car is completely bone stock except for the exhaust and some reliability stuff. Basically stock power stock suspension (touring). I never expected so much body roll, but the car feels really good out there.

I was working station 7 (right before the bridge) on Saturday, and station 13 (end of the back straight) on Sunday.

Ahh, so you missed my near-off at the end of back straight on Saturday then, good I was going to comment that you're very observant, but I guess you've got to be when you're flagging, right? Maybe I'll catch up to you next time. Too bad the next event is sooooo far away (in time)

I didn't get to meet you either. We didn't get in on Friday until 10pm or so... the Shoney's Inn was "interesting".

Did you go to Vixens or whatever it was called? lol from what I heard I'm glad I didn't go.

I work T&S - we were in the short bus on the back straight inside the paddock.

Yeah man, it happens. I/We will be partying hard at HyperFest, so I'm hoping we can get a good crew together then.

For some reason, we were all staffed at the Hampton Inn across the street this past weekend. Except for the lack of Speed (I missed F1 qualifying <argh!>) I do hope we stay there in the future. Very nice place.

No, no Vixens for me. I've been begged, threatened with dragging there, etc. But I'm not a "pay for it" kinda guy. And even if I was, something about the idea of West Virginia strippers is pretty ewwww..

Yeah, the Hampton Inn looked a lot nicer lol. We had a bit of an issue when we arrived at the Shoney's Inn:

The guy behind the desk gave us our key and once we got to the room we walked in on what looked like the mexican mafia with a bunch of **** laid out on the bed. I'm pretty sure I know what was going on unless they were having a cooking party with lots of oregeno and sugar. We left very quickly and got another room only to later have those guys from before come down and nervously ask us if everything got sorted out. Then about an hour later they left with a bunch of stuff wrapped up in sheets lol.

The guy at the front desk also gave some other NASA workers that room while it was occupied, and then gave them the room we were in. Took forever to work things out.
