Well I started the thread, but I clearly stated (or w/e you're going to call it). I was just using the name "Rotorfest" as reference.

And Jay... you wrote "mad"... the correct word would be "madd"

Its a great time, a lot of nice rotary cars. I think we had somewhere
around 75 cars last year. Expecting more for this next year.
Check it out see what you think
That event is in April, this particular event takes place around July.

im not taking ides on what happened last year, but right is right, dont try to steal thier event. if you feel you can put on your own event, great, but dont steal thiers, START your own.
that bitch vosko can blow me.....he stole my money so why cant we use a non trademarked name?....its not thier event its an event for the rotary community....show me a legal patent for the name and i will back down.....otherwise i think every one that was there last event paid in full to own that name.....

Vosko didn't Patent the event so people can name the next event Rotorfest if they want to.

edit: Oh no, too late.. Chrism got it first.

forget the legalities of it. I dont give a **** is the name was patented or not.
i believe in principals. last year a bunch of you guys left a nice event after you already paid to get in and had driven a long distance. you could have stayed but chose not to based on PRINCIPAL right? its the same idea, that name belongs to JAY and vosko. as a matter of principal i think you guys should respect that and start your own event if thats what you want to do.

theres a very good chance rotorfest will be held next year as always by the same guys that always put it together anyway. it would be confusing if you guys try to hold another event by the same name.

lastly if you guys do decide to hold your own rotorfest-type event i'll be there as long as the dates arent conflicting with the jay&vosko rotorfest or any import drag events. please dont be petty and scedule for the same date as rotorfest.

Thats enough guys, I'm very sensitive to others needs. If Vosko chooses to hold an event he will announce like last year (very late). We will have ours organized and scheduled very early on so, no worries there. I'm not going to hold a grudge with him, but I will choose not to associate with his event. Good luck to him and his future events. Please do not reply anymore to this post. I will let everyone knowwhen we have more information.

Thats news to me that vosko is doing it again. Where are you getting this information? As far as I and anyone I talked to knows vosko said someone else could do it next year, and he was feeling hurt because people were unhappy with the whole fiasco. Therefore this event discussed here is rotorfest, or if the name must be changed on principal, it is the said event by another name. If it is the same location and date as the event last year, its the same thing. In my opinion making up another name instead of rotorfest just because vosko did events called rotorfest in the past, is rediculous and confusing. There are already several other rotary events known as rotorfests in various places. Anyways if vosko thinks he is getting any more money from me, I hope he hasn't spent it yet. Yes I would pay $30 if it was a good event and the price didn't suddenly change upon arrival.

principals?......were they thinking about principals when they took all our money?....trust me very few will attend any vosko productions i can assure you of that....maybe a small local one but nothing big....his name is forever tarnished...the name does not belong to any one but the people who pay and attend.....i was there and i stayed till the end and i still felt shafted.....tell me why i should respect some one who disrespected me and an entire community?.....i get respect from my peeps because i help them and im there for them...tell vosco to hold 240fest and leave us alone

i can't tell if you guys are just acting, or really are stupid....

i understand that you were upset, stop letting that **** cloud your thinking it was almost 6 months ago! besides being emotional is a female trait and you're all acting like bitches.

chism, i explained why you guys should not use the name in clear understandable terms, you just continue to reply with "**** vosko, vosko can suck a dick, ect.." the issue i'm discussing here has nothing to do with your personal feelings for vosko, its about right and wrong. and before you say "well vosko wronged me" lets remember, he didnt force anybody to pay ****. yall act like he went in your pockets at gunpoint or some ****.

for the record, i was upset about the price structure too, but its another ******* $10. you guys are still bitching about this **** 6 months later???
i'm almost embarrased to be associated with you ******* bitches. if $10 is a big enough sum of $$ for you guys to cry for 6 months you're all driving the wrong ******* car.

again, this is not directed at everyone in this thread, and im not saying that you guys dont have a right to be upset if you feel last years event was unfair. all im saying is i wish you ppl could ******* get over it already so we can move on.

if this thread is about planning an event lets plan an event without bringing up old **** and without trying to steal someones event name out of spite.
sometimes in life, you dont get the last punch. stealing his event name wont get you 'even' so drop it.

lastly, to the guy that keeps saying that there are lots of other rotorfest events in other areas, get the **** straight, Jay and vosko were the first to hold an event by that name back when rotorfest was a bbq at vosko's house with 5 cars like 8 years ago. just because you just started exploring the rotory world last week dosent mean that there was nothing going on before you got here.

Other existing Rotorfests are for Helicopters and rotary wing Aircraft. In the longer past there were other Rotorfests for rotary cars long before this one.

For this year's Rotorfest under new management, call it Wankelfest

since it seems to be the NYRA group that wants to do it, just start a new name using your group name somehow.

Well honestly I don't care what its called this year. If you want to retire the name rotorfest in memory of vosko thats fine too, sort of how a sports number gets retired. they weren't all bad and he put in a lot of effort in the past but he prob. would appreciate a break now and let others do some work.

Rotary Fest would be good except when they wanted to have a Rotorfest in califorinia didn't vosko or someone object and make them change the name to Rotary Fest? But if they don't mind having an east coast rotary fest, then name it that, or else wankelfest like above is good.

I started this thread to ask a question, not start a fight.

That said, I'm VERY disappointed that a moderator would stoop to a low enough level to call other members names, especially since it was unprovoked. That is completely inappropriate and uncalled for, regardless of the situation. You're a moderator, PLEASE act like it.

i'm not fighting with anyone, i'm just pasionate about things i care about like rx7's. that passion sometimes leads me to use inappropriate language. i apoligize for the language, but i stand behind the intent of my post.
i wouldn't call my previous post unprovoked, i was just reacting to several peoples opinions. if my post was seen as a PERSONAL attack on anyone, I apoligize. it was an expression of my frustration over what i see as a useless effort to seek revenge on a hardworking and active member of our comunity.
I've meet most of you guys in person and i can say that i dont remember any of you having any severe mental deficencies. with that said, i think you all know what the right thing to do is in your heart, regardless of what you say or post here.

i dont want to fight with you guys, i dont have the energy, or as rob said the free time. (I've got a very special vert to build) i honestly didnt think it would go on this long, my only intention was to have ppl cease to consider using the name rotorfest for this new event. I'll step out of the way so you guys can plan. you guys do what you want, i'll see you all at the meets this spring.

last thing, chism you seem to think that I'm not neutral? thats the furthest thing from the truth. for the record i was very upset about the price increase at the last event and i agree with the complaints of most of you guys. but just because i think i got price gouged, dosent mean that i cant see clear enough to know that 2 wrongs dont make a right....

look back at my posts in this thread, not once did i defend vosko or his actions. i only spoke about principals and right vs wrong.

when i can put my personal anger over last years fiasco aside, and work to help ppl see what the right thing to do is; that my friend is about as fair and neutral as you can get.

ok i'm done, lets plan.. I'll bring the burgers

calling people names and taking a stance on something whether or not its right is far from neutral.....you took the stance in defending vosko and company on thier name rights....people associate rotorfest to the big once a year thing for all rotaries on the east coast to attend....changing the name can and will confuse others (i want to obviously avoid that because thats what started the whole financial fiasco of last year was confusion and deciet)...i have no more anger about that but i do learn from my mistakes and i am very enthusiastic about our community......i want to look out for my peeps and have them get the most for thier hard earned money

Anyway, I'm quite sure "everyone" is against Vosko's decisions, so I'm sure we can close that case.

As for the infamous "RotorFest" name I think it's fine to use the name. Only a child would say "oh man you can't use that I said it first." It's not an ingenious name! It's more like a universal 2+2=4 deal.

Unfortunately emotions are in shambles from this last event. Though I think we should press on. Unless legally he tied the title to his name I believe it's a universal event name. I'm surely 100% not here to argue with anyone. I feel "RotorFest" is a named event that provides unity to our love and interest as an community. Used for coming together to share our experiences and put faces to names.

Who was the guy that named "Woodstock." I surely don't know... I'm sure he did not/doesn't care about the name logistics to this day. It's an event and should not be used as a marketed event or for profit (irony).

With all that said, I'm not exactly sure what I just said above. It came out very quickly and I hope it makes sense

i agree with chris,i think we shouldn't change the name, but i do agree we should let them know we are using the name! with or w/o their consent,i don't think vosko even owns his fc anymore and the last time i talked to jay, his fd was for sale, after last year's event i don't think vosko wants it anymore, i felt bad the way everyone bashed him at the end last year, before he handed out the awards, i would love to see rotorfest 08 i've to all but rotorfest 04,(under new management)we see this all the time!
