i dont have a nopistons account, so im going to propose my idea here:

DATE: July 7th, 2007

i dont know why you would have it on any other day? are any of us going to be around in 2077? better yet, will our RX-7's be around in 2077? i hope all of you do live that long, but i'm just saying it won't be around for a long time. call me corny, but i think it would be cool to have a day fully dedicated to the 7 (and RX-8's and bastderized rotary monsters can enjoi it with us, too.)

i wasn't too fond of the track last year (grass parking, huge bumps, crappy food, etc with a 7 hr round trip -which is no ones fault but my own since i live in Mass. -?), but i'd attend if it was there again. i understand that finding a spot for the amount of cars attending is a huge pain, so i appreciate and will respect whatever Vosko sets up for us. he does a great job, and i trust he'll do a great job this time around.

i could never imagine setting up a meet this huge with all rotary powered vehicles, yet alone any type of vehicle for that matter. I fully understand what must be done in order to get a meet like this set up, but there aren't any other options? New Jersey? New York? Pennsylvania? Hell, if anyone wants, i'll go around Massachusetts trying to find a better place. there's no doubt in my mind that we can find a better place to go.

There's a huge Subaru meet every year (Wicked Big Meet) and it's the largest known Subaru gathering in the world. It meets at a Massachusetts mountain (Nashoba Valley) and housed 1,200+ cars, vendors, models, a rally cross course, dj, food, etc and will be even bigger this year. i have met the organizer of WBM at a rally event that i raced in, and will most likely see him at my next upcoming rally event in February. if not i know his NASIOC screenname to get info. if there is enough interest i would be more then glad to see what it takes to get something like that set up. I'm not trying to step on anyones coat tails or disrespect those who have strived to make Rotorfest what it is today, i'm just trying to think outside of the box, because i believe we can do much better then Island Dragway. i would prefer that parking lot that we all met at over Island Dragway- BUT i will still attend if it is at Island Dragway.

either way, good luck to those setting up the meet. I still enjoyed myself at Rotorfest 2006; met a lot of awesome people, saw a lot of jaw dropping cars, and had a great time driving my RX-7 down to the event. If '07 Rotorfest is anything like 2006 (and Vosko's saying it will be better), I think we'll all have a hell of a great time!

I'll see you guys there!

i will try to pay attention to both threads but i check NP everyday...

thanks for the compliments. i hope to be much better prepared this time around!

if anyone finds a place willing to let us have this event there, pm me the track owners phone number and i will call them.

while island may not be perfect it works well and the track owner likes us and so far has been the best fit. jio suggested 7/7/07, i didnt even think of it lol hopefully i can get it!

Well, since I don't use no pistons (the mods there suck ***) ... I think we should get a real paved lot this time and not a grass lot (Which ends up being a mud pit every damn year). Even if it's not at the track I don't care; no one ever runs anyway. It's a car show.

I've been to the last 3 and I like the location (as long as it does not rain!). I don't think it will be easy getting that date, is'nt it 4th of July weekend?? Vosko, is the track owner against us bringing grills??????

How early could we get a date to lock it down?

its original purpose, AFAIR, was to have a gathering of all things rotary. the car show aspect was more of an addition to make it more enjoyable, which is the same reason that a drag was added later on when they were able to get a hold of a track that was willing to hold the event. you also have to remember that this is done with very lil backing/funding from sponsors, if any, so the organizers have to take everything into consideration. im sure if attendees were willing to pay upwards of 40 or 50 dollars for an entry fee it could prolly be had at one of the premier racetracks in new jersey/east coast.
im sure if it could prolly be had in some sorta public facility, but why hold it somewhere where we cant "strut our stuff"(i think thats how the saying goes)?

maybe we can hold it at pat musis place and we could just have a dyno runs(only privately owned/speed shop ive been to that could hold upwards of a 100 cars).

I didn't have a problem with Island last year, and I fubar's the front airdam on my Widebody Fb. And I didn't run the A.E caus I had just put it back together and was having problems with it.

I will be there whenever and wherever it is held. It is the only time I get to see rotaries other than mine.

I'll be a bit more detailed in my distaste just for you: Specific moderator(s) of No-Pistons are thieves and, exercise poor judgment in their selection of fellow moderators.

If I was some chump that never participated or bought merchandise I'd shut up, however that's not the case. I've supported no-pistons, rotorfest, and its vendors with money, buying t-shirts, spending ridiculous amounts of cash on parts from sponsors/vendors, and paying to put my car in a show (or rather a swamp...).

If it's a pain in the *** to hold the show; don't do it. There are others willing to step in and hold rotary events elsewhere at more accommodating venues.

Cal Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, MD is directly off 95, centrally located between North and South, will accommodate auto crossing in the parking lot (and has ample space for a show). In fact there are drift and auto cross events held regularly in the lot during the spring, summer and, fall seasons. [Hint Hint...]

certainly shows your level of gratitude and appreciation...
if you dont like the venue.. its as easy as not attendin it isnt it..
and youre actually holdin everyone accountable for a few who exercised poor judgement...
must have been a really bad experience for such a prejudistic view..

again i am open to ANY viable options

AND

for example, i have been to calripken for the one and only drift event held there years ago, IIRC it was a few thousand dollars to rent the lot.....+ insurance + everything else. from a $$$ perspective its impossible to hold an event there unless everyone wants to pay $100+ per to park in a parking lot.

the point of the event is to come hang out have fun. i agree the grass lot isnt the greatest thing but there isnt much i can do about it

There is regular auto cross events. I think the drift event wasn't invited back ( I was there as well, I believe the event you are referring to was the Civil War drift event) because some jackass decided it would be a good idea to drift the access road to the lot and crossed both lanes, ended upside down in the trees.

I'll be there and participate and be happy about it if you end up holding it at Island Raceway again. I enjoy getting together with other rotorheads, really the caravan there is most of the fun. Maybe it'll be dry this time and it won't matter.

Really, I thought my participation and monetary support showed my gratitude and appreciation

I'm not holding it against everyone, I adjusted my distaste statement to be less all inclusive. It was a bad experience, I lost 800 dollars from a representative of no pistons which would leave a bad taste in anyones mouth for a long long time. ****, if thats how one moderator is....

f1blueRx7- you still talking about that one guy 2 years ago who took your money sold you something that was missing parts and VANISHED?

how is anyone supposed to help that?
Not like you are the first person to get ripped off on the internet, stop labeling the whole board because of the action of ONE guy.

when rotorfest is going on I dont know who is from what board nor do I care, its all smiles and talk of cars.

This one board versus another board is just ******* stupid.

If it was "Joe random" on the nopistons board I'd never hold it against the board, however, it was a moderator who had something to do with it's day to day operation, and somehow that made him exempt from any sort of banning or even addressing the issue. He was made out to be (according to the rest of the chumps that chimed in) some sort of pillar of the no pistons community. *Shrug* Honestly, I think a ban would have been appropriate, maybe a home address I could reference for the future. I guess it's wishful thinking right? It's moot at this point.

No one is pitting one board vs the other here, I wasn't comparing anything to anything. Keep your panties on. I just don't frequent the no pistons board for that reason.

ban? he vanished, there was no reason to ban.

here today, gone tomoroww.

give you an idea how much he vanished, I had a sunroof skin of his, and after 2 years I finally sold it.

not like when you become a mod you give your address and social security number, sorry you went through all that.

he was a mod for a VERY short period of time by the way, no pillar.
The admin of nopistons got ripped off by another mod- how can one help something like that from happening?

It's neither here nor there at this point. It was more like 3 years ago. The money is in the wind.
