Rotofest 2007

Well guys I have to say it was nice to see everyone. Seems after gather much information we where shafted at the gate. We where originaly told $5010 for the meet. We gat there and I hand him a $20 and he looks at me and says "sorry but they raised the price on me, there is nothing I can do about it". I was like ok, fair enough. We later talk to the track people and sure enought they say "we are only charging $5 per person". Where did a price increase come from??? A group of us approach Vosko on this and his responce was, well they told me it was more, so I chargeed more", "let me go ask the lady". We follow him and the lady flat out tells everyone they are only charging $5 per person. Funny how he turns to us and now says "well everyone who come is entered in the car show, I have to charge more", I never asked to be put into a car show! Last year when the Island people collected money, they asked us if we wanted to be in a car show and charged 2 different prices.

Funny when someone is confronted with something they don't man up to it. All you had to say was that you wanted more money. It's better that way then to say it was Island's fault. I know Jason got kick out because he suppoably threated Vosko, but you deserved it. How come you let him in for only $10, because he called you on it? No, because thats what it should have been.

I have to say you stiffed allot of peopl money today. They ban people on this site all the time for taking peoples money. I think you should give back money to all those who came. I will give you my paypal account and time.

Just a quick quote from Vosko:

Well I guess Island was good for you, because the money was right on your end!

Go ahead and cry to a moderator and get me banned, just like you cried at the fest!

Be a man about this.

yeah complete bullshit.

lets do some quick math.

We know the track takes $5 a head.

lets say 125 cars, 50 extra people. Thats $875 to the track.

Now, we get jacked at the gate after driving 100+ miles what are we going to do turn back?

No, instead, we pay $20 a car and $10 each extra person

That comes out to $3250 with that estimate.

After track fees, that leaves a cool $2500 in guess who's pocket.

Them's must be some expensive trophies!

i was charged 30 at the gate and was a bit disappointed on the shady dealings....if they ban you then i hope they ban me too......rediculous!....there was no rhyme or reason to the show.....no one walking around deciding points....i was by my car almost all day and the only judge i saw some what brushed me off when i spoke to him!....i can guarantee i WILL NOT EVER go to another Vosko presentation of anything....i feel swindled first off and second off he was throwing people out for confronting him....be a man....do the right thing....even the trophies were sub par!!
Dont tell me you worked hard on getting this event together and putting time and effort into it because all you did was post one line and talk to a track owner about a date.....me, kel, jason, shinka213 and a few others cheer leaded this entire event and brought over 100 cars alone!!.....what did those trophies cost you....maybe 10 bucks each if that??....
Why on earth would you also throw people out that are staples in the community?....that is just plain stupid.....jason was thrown out, took a bunch of people with him, he even had Moon from Pettit who drove up from Florida thrown out......worst kind of PR i have ever seen....im sorry but to me you lost all respect

Yes, this event was complete BS. I was expecting $5 at the door, and they tell me $20 for me and $10 for my passenger. And I never saw any judges or trophies of any kind. I was one of the cars that ended up leaving early with Jason. If this guy "Vosko" is a user on this site, he should be banned like every other scammer.

Jason threatened to punch me in the face, i dont deal with that, i shouldnt have to. The pettit guy i dont really know what happened with that. he was talking to security and thats all i know. i didnt deal with it at all

if you guys can hold a car show for $5 head at etown by all means i will attend.

I'm going to explain a few things. i talked to the track owner months ago about pricing. i set the price at what he told me. was there a miscommunication, apparently so. people make mistakes. when i got there this morning he told me the prices will be $10 for spectator without a car (same as drag racing and you can watch both with your ticket) $20 for an rx7 (so that is $10 for car show and $10 spectator) then $10 for rotary only drag racing after the car show(and you can win a trophy). i dont know ANYWHERE ELSE you can attend a car show + drag race for $30. basically you got a free carshow! if you went to island to dragrace its $30 alone i believe

also last year Island employees ran the gate and charged EVERYONE $5 to get in. that was simply wrong and i had no control over it. it was also my first time running the event by myself. Rotorfest is a car show, it always has been. If you drove a rotary car and want to park it with the other cars then you have to be in the car show. Island messed that up last year. When i spoke with the owner he said he counted 10 to 1 spectators to car show people and there was over 100 rx7s there IIRC only 30-40 people paid for the car show and last year i actually lost money holding rotorfest.

i'm sorry for the discrepancy but it was out of my control. i was not going to pay the track out of my pocket to hold rotorfest. my goal is for everyone to have a fun time and do a better job than the last year. i had a horrible time, getting cursed out, threatened, etc. There may not even be a rotorfest 2008, i have to talk to the track owner as he has enough to deal with running the drag strip alone, besides all the other *security* issues.

also anyone who talked to me in a rational way like a human being, i talked back to respectfully. am i perfect nope. there is always room to improve. i do this whole thing for spectators to enjoy it, i could careless about the money. that is how its been for years and will continue to be.

i am happy to say, there were MANY more happy people than angry people. maybe i know i what i am doing afterall......

anyway thank you for coming, even those who yelled at me and congrats to the car show winners and drag race winners. romeo if you see this i'll mail your trophy, have someone pm me your address or where to send it.

if anyone else wants to *call me out* i probably wont respond just an FYI

Why would Island charge $20 if someone has an RX-7, when you can ride up there any Sunday and get in for $10 bucks?

Yes, I spoke to the Island people also, and their reply was that they have no control over what was added on at the gate, but didn't tell me what they charged as I'll find out from Tony or Kathy tomorrow.

The wife and I took a ride up there, stayed for about an hour and it cost me $30 bucks. $ 10 for myself, $10 for the wife, and $10 for the car. I was told that the promoters raised the price that morning which was not true. The normal Sunday entrance fee is $10 per person period. Now with the Rotorfest discount of $5 per head for Island, if it was $5, someone certainly filled their pockets.

Never ceases to amaze me!!!!!!!!!

That doesn't explain or even mention how today when the Island people were asked how much it was per person, they said, TODAY, $5. Regardless of if it was a mistake or not last year, they said today that it should have been $5 a head.

And as for the car show, I'm sure the Dodge Durango and Honda that were there that also paid $30 really wanted to compete with the 7's and 8's.

Good job guy.

So where does the extra $2000 - $3000 go? Oops minor discrepancy in your pocket.

I guess people showing up in a Dodge Durango wanted to be in the Rotary Car Show also so they could also pay $30 for themself and their passenger. Just a minor discrepancy.

w/e. Like I said, ridiculous. Who the hell enters their Durango in an RX-7 show?! I was never asked if I wanted to compete against other RX-7 owners in any show, but I didn't! Why should I have to pay that much?! I HOPE there isn't a Rotorfest 2008 there...

lets see, i could go down to my local drag strip, which isnt much of anything, but is better than island, and its 10 to watch, 12 to race, every friday night.

as to the show, we recently held a show at my place of employment, and if you registered on the day of the show, entry was 20 bucks. no charge to attend. our smallest trophies were bigger than the ones at rotor fest. we also had a bikini show, hot dog eating contest, wing eating contest, pie eating contest, radio throwing contest, a car dyno, a motorcycle dyno, a motorcycle wheelie machine, and a motorcycle stunt show. with cash and merchandise prizes. with no charge to enter any of the contests.

i will never attend rotorfest again, and neither will any of the people that drove over 100+ miles with me to attend.
