Whew, had the front end up on the TII checking things out, the spindles are definately different, which leaves the only option of replacing the hub and wheel bearing from the parts car onto a questionable spindle. To give you guys and idea of how shitty the bearing's shape is, the pass side front tire with ~10lbs of force the wheel span about 5-6 revolutions, using an equal amount of force on the wheel with the known bad bearing resulting in about 1/3-1/4 revolution...ouch. That MAY be causing a pull....

Now I'm wondering if it's possible to damage a bearing/hub and not the spindle...I can dream right?

Damn, I just missed you guys. I was home this weekend, but I left pretty early this morning.

Anyway, here's an update:

My new pride and joy

Basically everything is in pretty good shape except for a couple of dings and the typical '93 interior wear. Around 100,000 on the chassis and 25,000 on a rebuilt motor. The turbos are from a lower mileage car too.

Its mostly stock except for the standard reliability mods: vacuum hoses, downpipe, alluminum radiator and ast, fan mod, small ARC intercooler and catback.

The car runs great except I am seeing some boost spikes during the transition, probably a little creep too. I am deciding whether to go ahead and buy an electric boost controller or go the home depot route... I'll probably end up porting the wastegate too while I'm at it. It also needs a water temp gauge; that will probably go on during spring break.

I will be home for spring break starting on the 6th. You guys want to meet up again?

*edit* (some more pics)

Nice 3rd gen afterburn! Hopefully I'll be able to see it in person soon.

I had fun at the meet. Zach and Robin missed some fun in the industrial park nearby, but I got it on video for you guys . The footage of snake rd is alright, but my friend had the zoom in too far so it's kinda weird, and the crack in my windshield is in a lotta shots, but I think I have enough footage to make a cool video. I really enjoyed meeting everyone, hopefully we can do it again sometime. Hope everyone made it home safe.

Patrick (BMW today) told me about a good place in williamsburg for a meet, I'm probably gonna check it out over spring break week after next if anyone wants to come. Supposedly some good twisty driving roads. He said when he used to have his GTI they'd have meets up there.

to everyone!

Yea, it's still pulling, all of the wheel vibration is gone though. Those tires were underinflated like crazy, messing around felt like the car was on some loose mounts to the road (think diesel boat motor mounts). Hopefully, changing out the bearing (which I think went bad due to the vibration from the messed wheel) should fix that. I was thinking these could tide me over till I get some:

TII stock rim size.

Dunno...

Thanks guys, I picked it up last week.

I was out driving today and was getting ready to pass a pickup truck with a bunch of crap in the back. Well, a piece of wood flew out and to the left, RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY NEW CAR!!!! I tried my best to avoid it, but there wasn't enough time; it went right under the car. It knocked the front lip a little loose and scratched it up a some, but that's all the damage... I wanted to give the guy a piece of my mind, but he exited while I was passing him. Oh well, I guess I'm lucky nothing major happened.

GRRRR...

I would like to meet up with you guys, but I am at school most of the time. Like I said before, I will be home for spring break and not much after that. But I will be back in midlothian for the entire summer.

Do you go to tech, afterburn? I have the same spring break as you so we should at least go driving some time if we can't get get a meet going.

Speaking of meets, I need to get my firewire cable from my friend's house before I can upload the raw footage. I'll try to do it this week though. There are a ton of great shots of you drifting, mike.

Snake road was a little too short, busy, and narrow for me. We went out on Beach Road off of Rt. 10 where it's wide and mostly 3rd gear open view corners. Call me old, but I'd rather drive fast at the track, where it's actually possible to drive fast. Don't get me wrong, I had a good time. It was cool to see everyone. Can't wait to see the vid!

Almost crashed on the way home. Since my car is so low now, when I hit any decent sized bump the front tires rub the fender well. On 288 I hit a bump at 80 with the left front tire, it bottomed out and jerked to the left. I just happend to be brushing chips off my hands so I wasn't holding the wheel. Did you see that Robin? The car jerked off the road and I pulled it back with the rear end coming out a little. Scared the crap out of me.

By the way, we took that early exit so we could cruise downtown. You shoulda followed. It's always fun to make noise between the buildings.

Joe, it looks like you need to convert to 4 lug to use those wheels, so I'll be happy to swap with you.

Zach, you're old . Yeah me and Ryan (Prelude) did beach road a couple of weeks ago. Fun road. I like the tight left right turn. After you left we went over to the industrial park for drifting/donuts/fun. Wish you guys had stayed. Next time we'll pick a different road. Anyone have any ideas?

Glad you didn't end up dead, Zach! Got any road ideas for next time? My friend mentioned a road in Williamsburg that's much longer than snake, so I'm gonna hit that up over spring break. Maybe afterburn and I'll do it, and anyone else that wants to come.

I like cruising around town, driving for around an hour without stopping. W-burg is a little far to drive for a road thats not much longer than S-road.

I've been 'cruising' ever since I was a little kid riding with my dad on the bikes. The best trips locally start at my place (2200 block of Monument), drive down Cary though Cary town and to Shockoe Bottom, back up Main street through VCU, all the way down Main to Grove to Three Chopt and through the UR backroads, which leads to River road out to Goochland, on a backroad just off of the end of river road that leads out to Broad street at Short Pump, alllllll the way down Broad back to the fan, where cold beers wait in the fridge. I like to spend less time standing around and more time driving and drinking (in that order ). Total drive time, about and hour.

If you wanna drive far, we used to go out 64 to the Blue Ridge where to fun roads don't stop for a couple states. Not to mention the cool views for group shots.

Cool, maybe we'll do that next time. I agree I like to drive more than stand around. The road in williamsburg is much longer than snake he said. I'm gonna check it out and see how it is.

Yeah me patrick and matt drove out near roanoke and did route 43 (video: http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...ZmQzMXk1NDE%3D ) and part of the blue ridge parkway. The parkway is really cool, we got some good group shots.

My parents live off of beach. You should try driving second branch from beach, hanging a right and coming up riverxxxx(i forget) road. It meets back up with winterpock.

The wheels come in 5x114.3 16x7 too

This gets my vote. I used to drive out on 250 to get to some nice mountain roads.

Damn, looks like we did leave too early. I can't wait to see the video. Brian, did you get any of my backfires the second time through on snake?! I doubt you could see it during the day. It was tough to not go past 50% throttle or so....I think that is the hardest I have pushed it so far..

Yes, I did see you swerve Zach. I thought you were messing around trying to scare Julia or something. That is pretty damn scary, better put it back to stock and give all that stuff to me so it does not happen again...
I figured you two were going to get something to eat, I didn't want to be the third wheel any longer, I wish I had followed though.

Jacob called me a little while ago, he said the car is looking good, front bumper is straight again and they were working on the rear quarter. Hopefully it will be getting paint next week or the week after. Jacob or I will get pics up if we can.
