I'd expect a motor with used parts to take 2 or 3 tries to start at first, but after the 500 mile mark I'd start asking questions. Are you jumping it because the battery is dying? Are you pouring the oil in the combustion chamber? I'm all confused again.
I think the condition of the rotor housings has ALOT to do with how the car runs at first. When I rebuilt mine, it started first try and idled fine. Never had a problem. When we rebuilt Brian's (used housings), it needed a little help idling at first startup, and I think he had to give it a couple tries for a while to start it. Rob's engine seemed to be finicky for a while, but I think it was because of the TB adjustments. He did have trouble at first startup because he had to shut down as soon as it started. Water leak? I can't remember, but she flooded like a **** when that happened. Fun stuff.
I'm getting pumped up about this 12A Michael. I'm starting to think bridge port with wide open exhaust. I can't wait!

The battery is brand new,its like everything is to tight and it tries to start but then needs to be turned over faster, that is when i jump it and it starts right up.When it doesnt start when jumped io have to oil in the bottom plug holes to get it loosened up to start, then it starts right up on first try.It has started 1 time by itself. Its getting better on power by every mile it gets on it.Im starting to think the hard start may have something to do with the 550 injectors trying to flood it.I pull the EGI fuse before i try and start it then insert it when the motor is cranking over but it just wont catch,it wants to, but never spins fast enough.

If your running stock injectors in the primaries, then the 550s shouldn't be of a concern.

well i might have found my problem with the hard start.I went to start it this afternoon, when all i got was a click, its not the battery,i htink the starter gave up.That might be why it would never start, maybe the starter was dying and wouldnt spin it fast enough?Hey joe i might be interested in that vert,i just picked up a 91 today, the int. is perfect. It needs some paint and a motor, the guy bought it with the motor carbon locked, then found a motor from junkyard with 86,000 miles from a wrecked RX7.He says it had compression on both front and rear rotors before he pulled it,but i cant get nothing out of the rear, not even a slight swoosh.Heres some pics.

Damn hoss, quite a collection you have going there! Wish it was mine!

I figured out I need a TPS and BAC valve for my (actually my brothers) 90. Are the s4 tps and bac valve the same? If so, I will buy those off of you Dave.

They not the same, the TPS has got the high and lo throttle range, the S4 has just 1 plunger. The BAC valves are hard to find for the S5.I do have a TPS for a S5,i just have to find it,my sister bought a new one for her vert, and the problem ended up being the A.F.M.

Im running 550 in both primary and secondary.I think that starter may have had something to do with it.But then again is the motor to tight which caused the starter to go out?We will soon find out,i will yank a starter off the parts car tommorow and go at it again.

David, or anyone else, do you have a GXL steering wheel I can buy (like the one in your 90 )? I'm getting tired of the big *** wheel I have now. It's so big my knees are resting on it constantly and it's also ugg IMO. I was thinking about buying a Momo wheel, but they're just too expensive for me right now.

i found my problem,it was the starter.I changed the starter and now it starts on its own now everytime.Zach,i think i might still have the one that came out of my dads car,ill have to look.I got a deal on the NA,(id rather not say how much)i got it from some honda kids that pulled the motor to put another in.They couldnt figure out how to finish it up so they gave up.They clame the motor had compression before they bolted it in,but i cant get nothing out of it.It has been sitting since december. What are you looking at getting, joe? One thats running or needs a motor?

something CHEAP...

but in all honesty, I need to keep pouring money into the TII...

Looks like I get to order an ENTIRE new exhaust....the shop that I had weld the ricecans to pass inspections cut the Y by the cat and welded it there....so much for just getting a DP/MP...(I want to be able to take stuff apart...not one huge damn exhuast).

I'm definitely interested. I'm not positive if I can go yet though, but it sounds like fun. And what do you have in mind for sunday?

On another note, did I see someone here today? Near my house, near Trinity high school, I saw a silver second gen. He pulled out behind me. I slowed down a little and waved :o. Wonder if it was anyone here....

So July 19th is the date? I am in if that is it. I would be up for a drive Sunday except I have to work and it looks as though the weather is going to be cruddy.

Joe, question about the Microtech: Are your gauges still working (oil pressure, temp, etc)? What about cruise control, wipers, etc? What did you have to do to get them to work if it was anything special?

Story about the weather has been clearing up for this weekend...(Mon+Tue they said it would rain all weekend...yesterday they had Sun+Mon looking pretty clean).

Rob, I'll break those down into numbers.

1. I'd say...75% still work. Everything works EXCEPT boost (relies on pressure sensor and runs through old harness) and the temp gauge (again, old harness). The oil pressure, tach, speed, and fuel all work. You *CAN* still wire up the original gauges by knowing what sensor to tap into and what wires to run into the cabin harness.

2. Cruise and wipers. They are on a seperate (mostly) harness from the stock ECU harness. Their wrapped together but branch out right after the firewall on the engine side. On the inside pass wall (right in the corner by the firewall) there are two (yellowish?...i'm not the best with these color things ) connectors. I cut the wires leading from these plugs into the old engine harness, but retained the ones that led to the actual CC/WW. I think the total wires was around 8-9...I probably took that many out as well.

3. Anything special? Nothing besides blowing fuses and figuring out my laziness was making a short. So I pulled the pins and snipped wires from the connectors (for some damn reason I thought they wouldn't have voltage...but they do...it comes from the other side of the plug... ).

On a side note I did burn out a relay in my WW due to the shorting...atleast I got my $3 worth out of that newer switch! I also haven't put in the CC yet due to the complete lack of a nice day that I have off and time to do it...

If we get bored on Sunday, we can yank out my old engine harness ...it's still in there... ...you'll see.
