from what I've sourced the new owners of RIR are also resposible for not allowing anymore non-racing events go on anymore

Well now that autocross is done fer the season it's time I turn my attention to the FC.
Can any anyone give me a good breakdown of what could be wrong with my brake booster and possible fixs?
Immma also see if I can't get the e-fan working again as it looks like reinstalling the clutch fan may be a royal pain.

I'd guess they have some kind of valve actuated by linear motion that proportionately puts vacuum pressure on a diaphragm. Nothing I wanted top mess with. You need special tools to work on them/rebuild them.

I had no idea what was actually wrong with mine, I just swapped it out with a rebuilt unit from Factory Parts on Leigh. I was working at paradise garage then so it only cost me ~$100 for a rebuilt booster S4 NA. Factory should still have a really good price on it though...

I just hope that's what the problem is
it doesn't feel like the master or slave cylinder going out
I need to clean her up and bring it down some Friday night and have some of y'all test drive it
away from traffic though - maybe in the eyecare center lot next door

If the brakes are stiff and linear with the engine off and vacuum depleted and they bleed properly then the MC is good.

If the fact that the engine is running makes the brake response non-linear, unexpected, irratic, etc, then it's probably internal booster problem.

Which reminds me.... need to check my brake fluid on the E28, light has been flashing on/off.

You can sell it to me dirt cheap and I'll sign off on my life. Save money or die trying.

... that sounds non-linear/non-proportional, so my vote is for the booster.

My vote mirrors Alex's opinion. I had a 91 that had a similar problem years ago. I think I replaced everything but the booster before finally getting rid of it, none of which solved the problem. At the time I had no clue how the booster worked, so I assumed it was ok....

No problem alex, we have a meet every month on the 3rd Saturday. But we move all over the central part of the state. Only focus on Richmond maybe twice a year. If we get a warm sunny day we'll look for ya.

I'm going to focus on the FC this weekend - getting the E-fan out and the clutch fan in and the undertray put on.
So I can sell the car already....

In between coats of white being put down on the Miata for the base coat.
Project "Running With The Devil" has commenced.

here is a teaser
first coat of paint on frontend done
doors primered
rear quarters prepped

hey everybody, I have a few Items I am going to be putting up for sale and figured I would give all you local folks the opportunity first
  • -Hybrid T03/T04 turbo with your choice of a S4 or S5 hotside $450 (only has about 500 miles on fresh bearings)
  • -I have a custom V-mount intercooler set up that me and my buddy put together which I want to sell as a complete package. This will mount in a stock 2nd Gen W/O P/S with NO MODS besides drilling two small holes (I had it in mine with A/C ) $800
  • -Nice Aluminum double pass radiator (the brand escapes me)
  • -A decent sized Intercooler (I think it is a Godspeed)
  • -all the necessary intercooler plumbing including nice three-ply silicon couplers and T-lockclamps and a bung welded on for a Blitz Blow off valve (valve not included)
  • -Greddy intake coupler in super shape
  • -Black magic E-fan and Manual temp controller (Summit)
  • -All brackets necassary to get it in your ride including the hoses and I will explain the process.
  • -Aluminum dampers for air direction.
  • -S5 T2 turbo manifold $100
  • -S4 T2 turbo manifold (without valve and Emmisions hole welded) $100
  • -S4 T2 turbo manifold (with valve and emmisions hole) $100
  • -S4 T2 rotors $200 in good shape
  • -S5 housing (in decent shape) $50
  • -S4 T2 LIM that I cut and TIG'ed all the emissions off of (you dont need plates) $75
  • -ACT streetlight flywheel with your choice S4 or S5 counter weight (500 miles) $200
  • -S4 and S5 counter weight sets $60
  • -Complete standalone Megasquirt with wiring harness and LC-1 innovate controller (sorry no sensor) and upgraded intake with full sweep TPS $450 (runs with stock sensors)
  • -Stock Aluminum hood for a GXL (i think) $75
  • -S5 T2 turbo front housings with electric OMP $30
  • -S5 T2 turbo Irons (with the super big reinforced dowl pin locations) $175
  • -S4 and S5 oil pans $25
  • -RC engineering 1000cc Low imp. injectors (2) $125 (I have the flow/balance sheet)
  • -and A bunch of S4 and S5 T2 misc engine stuff that I can not recall at work.

All of this stuff is OBO I will negotiate on some stuff while others not so much....If you think something is overpriced try me out I am a reasonable person and I will treat you fair. I am selling all of this because I am getting out of the RX7 game for right now to focus on some of my other projects....same sad story as others, way to many projects not enough money. Most of this stuff was purchased brand new and the car only had 500 miles when my front housing had a casting flaw that cracked.....I subsequently put another engine in and I will also be selling my T2 soon, if anyone is interested in that let me know. it is pretty clean, but needs some body work, the engine will be a fresh rebuild with all the internal good stuff (all S5 internals/irons/turbo, RA seals and OE Mazda rebuild items) and I will make sure it runs like a champ before I give it to anyone.

I will post some pics tonight of some of the larger stuff, if you want a pic of something in particular let me know. This stuff was very fun to tinker with, but my tinker has moved on!

Thanks everybody!
Patrick
