oh yea i need some help...my left turn signal wont work---when i press the lever down and it clicks into place, i can hear the rapid clicking coming from behind the gauges (?), but the arrow light in the dash will not come on, nor will the outside blinkers...the right turn signal works just fine. any ideas? ive searched the forum pretty good and the only similar problem ive found has been the part of the cpu that goes bad, and i dont think thats my problem, im pretty sure its a connection or a relay...anyone with more know how on this, please!

Unfortunately I don't have an impact wrench just hand tools, so the shaft of the shock just kept rotating, then I clamped a Crescent wrench on it. At that point I could get shaft to hold still but the nut wouldn't budge. The one shock I put in the vice is now blown, oh yay! (note sarcasm) Any suggestions? I am about ready to just take a metal grinder to it and cut the damn thing off. OK I didn't know about the frunt struts not needing to be compressed to be gotten out - this is really the first car I've truelly worked on. The problem with top shock nuts is that they are essentially seized on, the nut doesn't break loose it just winds up rotating the shaft inside the shock. I guess I could try hitting with a torch or cutting the tops off with a metal grinder. The shocks definetly look like they are the original issues with the car. |

yea, i definately already checked the lights--for a while there it would work sporadically, at random times, and then whatever was going bad finally just died...and the turn signal switch is fine, its something between the switch and the lights, and ive ruled out that its the cpu thanks to the forum...does anyone know the whereabouts of any relays/fuses that are in line with the turn signals that might have possibly gone bad? |

i think i have it figured out somewhat...i took it to the mazda dealership today and a guy looked at it there, and told me i needed a new cpu, or if i could find it, the hazard light section of the cpu (??) he said the turn signals are wired through the hazard light controls, and if i replaced that it should take care of the problem. i never got the chance to ask, but it seems to me that if the hazard light cpu goes bad, wouldnt that kill both turn signals instead of just the left one? so i priced the cpu and found out, depending on my vin number, a new cpu is either going to be 400 or 800. to the junkyard i go. any other thoughts?

so I'm going to have to cut one of the spring compressors threaded rod because when I compress the spring it angle in front of where the strut conects to the steering knuckle this is a pic of the new strut without any compressors on it |

NOPE - it shot up another 4 inches, didnt hurt me but the car took some damage
