I got a question for everyone to help me with.
My 7 has been seriously bogging down on sharp left turns.
It feels like the fuel is being cut off or there is no spark but as soon as I straighten out
and I'm not pulling any g's it runs fine.
It does not this on right turns.
Any ideas?
Fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel injectors, loose contol wires, bad ground,
any of the above?

RevZempoe 04-20-05 03:29 PM

i would have to say bad ground somewhere, loose wires. that would only be my guess though.

You may want to check out the in-tank fuel filter. If that is ok I would start checking for electrical gremlins like rev said.

Zach McAfee 04-20-05 07:52 PM

In tank fuel filter. I had it in the '87, and it went away by itself.

Joe knows about it, where'd he go?

Several people saw it in action at the ACCAutocross, eveytime I made the hard left out of the start gate, bogged down like it was gonna die and then vroom

I'm selling a set of eibach pro springs if anyone is interested (FC, of course).

And....I'm looking for a set of 3rd gen wheels if anyone knows where I could get a set locally.

For my next "do it yourself" project I was going to try and do the springs and struts.
Now this something I've never done before, who sells decent spring compressors and who sells crap? I've got the shop manual downloaded and the suspension section printed out. From what I can see it doesn't look to hard anyone have any recommendations and things to watch out for? I've heard the horror stories and I'm just trying to do this safely.
I'd be doing the sways too but I'm waiting on the endlinks still.

Nib,
Rent the spring compressor from Autozone. $40 deposit- you get it back though.
The install is straightforward. Support car. Remove two hub to shock bolts. Four tower to shock hat bolts. Remove brake line retaining clip. Remove assembly. Compress new spinrgs and install onto new shock. Install old spring hat (I assumed you didn't get any camber plates or otherwise new hat). Install is opposite of removal ;-) Reears are just as easy, two nuts under speakers and one nut connecting to hub.

I would say if you have time time, install your sways and use the stock end links. Having the bars in themselves will provide a significant improvement - especially with RB Springs. Going back and doing the endlinks later is not difficult.

hey guys I just bought Zach McAfee's (my roomate unfortunately ) old 2nd gen and have been on a quest to find a T2 swap for it.

I have a local t2 tranny and thats about it.
I need a driveshaft..rear end..and halfshafts and of course an engine.

What I am hoping for is a T2 longblock in need of a rebuild so I can street port it and get some fresh seals in there.

so if anyone sees a turbo engine around the NE area please let me know I have been dying to get a hold of one.

btw ecu and harness are not necessary, i will be running microtech.

thanks for your time guys and Im glad to be a new member of the richmond rotary owners......but I do miss my turbo honda :)

Zach McAfee 05-03-05 07:02 AM

Zach McAfee 05-05-05 06:31 PM

I knew you knew it, I just wanted you to know others know. Ya know?

I dropped the AutoX this weekend, being that its mothers day and all.

BUT, my vacation is next week, and that means a ton of work to the GTU. Motor is going in, carb, ect. ect. Should be fun, or painfull, not sure how it'll turn out.

cafcwest 05-06-05 08:26 AM

I'm not sure why VMSC and NASA scheduled events for this weekend but whatever, its an opportunity to burn tires.

Zach, what are your plans for your GTU car? Track car?

DarkAngelKamui 05-06-05 08:43 AM

The Maryland guys know about this thread :D

Be it off-topic, guess who spent a night in the clink two days ago? :(

WTF did you do?

Zach - I won't be autoXing this weekend either, the car needs new rear rotors (failed state inspection) So Jon Felton (of BAP GEON fame) is gettin me some good pads and rotors front and back. I'm headed out to Stuarts Draft to my parents place with the giant garage - If I get the brakes done quickly enough I'll be finally getting to the suspension. I can't run the BMW because it's in the shop with a seized AC compressor.

Track car. I'm going to autoX it as soon as possible, and track it next year when I'm comfortable with it.
