cafcwest 03-27-05 08:40 PM

Kid whose name I forgot had it who worked at CAP. He just sold it to someone else.

I was going to get the car originally but really just didnt need another project. Its a pretty nice car with an ok respray.

RevZempoe 03-28-05 01:19 PM

yeah, wasn't anything special...was just wondering who it was ;p

niburu 03-29-05 08:23 AM

Well the starter is fine, somehow the engine lost compression which never happend before.
So my mechanic squirted some oil in the the sparkplug holes closed it back up and it started.
Next time I try that first.

Hello and all that...

Hi folks,

Just wanted to take a minute and introduce myself. I live in Richmond and picked up a VR 93 touring a few months back. I am just starting to tweak on the car. I plan to keep it pretty mild as I have a dedicated track car. I am an avid track nut (addict) and Honda Challenge competitor. Just wanted to stop and say hello to everyone. Let me know if y'all want to grab a beer and BS sometime.
FYI- I have already "found" Fritz up in Charlottesville - hell, I already bought a parts car from the guy! It recently died a grizzly sawzall-related death. ;)

Hello to everyone. Say Hi sometime!

Hello and Welcome.

---------------

I feel so bad, I've spent more time working (and money) on my Civic in the past two weeks than the RX. But alas, the 7 is getting some goodies soon.
Can anyone say: Peanut Butter - Megasquirt Time! Go..go peanunt. Go..go meqasquirt. Go..go $200 standalone EFI. Oh how I heart thee.

I'm going to stop rambling now.

pic of the night.

Yea, those are Forza's. I saw them on eBay a few weeks ago and the guy was located here in town. I won them at $232. He included 94+ Integra rails which I modified to fit my 3G Civic.

I originally got them just because they were such a great deal and he was local, so no shipping. I didn't want the red in my black on black RX-7. The red seats in the red car though looked pretty good and the rails were easily modded. Ideally, black would have been the best but ya know.....

niburu 04-01-05 01:48 PM

I was surprised how easy it was to get the rails mounted in the Ghia I just had to drill one hole, it lined up with every thing nicely

Looks like most of my ordered suspension parts won't get here till the end of April, so I'll be running stock on street tires at the ACCAutocross next weekend, I may even goto the NASA event at Cloverleaf the following weekend

Zach McAfee 04-06-05 06:33 AM

Alright, I'm back into the forum, now that I have a computer and I'm not working a gagillion hours a week.

Project GTU status: I'm keeping the '87 rex so I can use that engine just to get things going so I'll have a car for at least half the season. I found a used weber 6 port carb setup in the classified section (fuel pump, psi gauge, regulator and everything) for $600.

I'm hoping that temperature controls will still work without the main ECU. All I need is defrost and heat. Joe, you still on here?!?! Any info?

I also ordered the carbon fiber stereo surround and a CF ignition panel (ignition switch, starter button, and two accessories) to mount to it. Sweet!

I'll have some pictures soon.

niburu 04-06-05 04:06 PM

Well my Corksport front and rear strut braces arrived today.
If anyone (Zach) has any good tips/methods for putting them in properly I'd love to hear it. Either here or at the ACCAutocross Sunday.
The Tokico Illuminas arrived today, but they're not going in till the Racing Beat suspension package arrives.

Yes, it will work fine. Those functions are driven by the CPU.

RevZempoe 04-07-05 06:10 AM

anyone have their car at mitchum's? I dropped mine off there last night. Gotta figure out why it won't stay started, check the turbos, and probably replace em.

Zach McAfee 04-07-05 06:31 AM

Hey Dave, you have to take a holesaw to the speaker towers to install the rear brace. It's tricky but you'll get it in there.

I don't currently have a hole saw but I know where to get one, I do have a disc grinder that cuts through metal like butter.
My other thought was just to remove the speaker towers and build an easily removed speaker box.
So I just unbolt the schock tower tops, put the braces on, and rebolt?

Zach McAfee 04-07-05 09:38 PM

Its a little tricky but the holes have to be big enough for you to slide the bar all the way into one tower, then squeeze it into the second tower, center it up, and line up the braces. I can't really explain it well, but don't worry, you'll figure it out. :)

If you don't have a hole saw, you could make a rough cut to the sheetmetal on the inside, and use some snips or something to make the carpet look clean. The bigger the sheetmetal hole, the easier it is to install!

Removing the speaker towers is another story...you don't wanna get into that.

cafcwest 04-08-05 06:29 AM

Nib,
I got a sawzall you can borrow if you'd like.
-Jayson

niburu 04-08-05 07:33 AM

I need to pull the carpet back and see what I'm dealing with. I can cut a nice straight line (or curved, the old Ghia's fenders for example were cut) with disc grinder. I just need to get the flammable out of the way. I am really tempted just to take the towers off, I assume they are tack wellded on.
I'll be at ACCAX sunday with speakers removed you can splain more then (I need visual aids)
