We just put the NA motor from my vert into my brothers car, had it swapped in about 9 hours, we are just waiting on gettting the radiator flushed now before we try it out. In case anyones interested, i have a racing beat street strip clutch and pressure plate for a NA with less than 9,000 miles on it. $285.00 Also have a S4 NA upper intake and plentum it is polished for $85.00. Also have 4 88 NA 460cc injectors, recently cleaned by RC engineering, about 6,000 miles on them since cleaned $90.00 Also have a S4 5 speed tranny tha came out of the vert along with the rear differential, ill let that go cheap just so it will be out of my way. I also have whats left from the TII fenders, glass, sunroof, seats, doors, and wiper switch with the rear wiper and a couple of other misc. switches out in the shed. Ill let the TII parts that are left go cheap if anyones interested, if not its getting trashed. |

Suspension is swapped. It took about 6 hours with some assistance from a hungover RX-8 dude. So, the old 87 is back to stock suspension. :( New engine is next. Damn I need a new car. |

Do you have to pay shipping, or is there no charge if you pick it up at the distribution center? |

I took a ride in a LS1 powered '89 RX-7 last night... and I have changed my mind when it comes to V8 swaps. I would highly recommend it. :bigthumb: |
I've done some looking into that too, it seems to me the main stumbling block is finding the donor LS-1 engine
This site had some decent info http://www.hinsonsupercars.com How was the ride? cornering, rev range of engine etc.... |

Ironically enough, my mentioned first time out at gforce, a group of us ended up talking to a guy that put a LT1 in a 87. He was recommending that too. Honestly, I'd have to be lying to say the thought hadn't crossed my mind, but that'd jack up the price of getting it mobile again ~2x. :o |
There is also a world of difference between the LT-1 and LS-1, I just wanna know how a V8 changes the character of the car.

This site had some decent info http://www.hinsonsupercars.com How was the ride? cornering, rev range of engine etc.... I only went for around a 10 minute ride at night, so I didn't get to see much of the car. He did open the hood for me but I couldn't make much out other than a mess of wires and a PVC intake. :rlaugh: Apparently he just did the swap, so he was working on making a real intake that fit. And he hadn't done anything to the car other than swap the drivetrain, so the old and worn suspension didn't help much. We went out onto 460 and did a couple straight line pulls to the top of 5th gear and it definitely throws you back into your seat. Traction was also a big issue since he is still on the stock wheels and some shitty worn tires lol he was nice enough to mention how bad the tires and suspension were after we were well into triple digits. The spedometer wasn't hooked up yet, so all I know is we were going pretty damn fast. About the power range of the engine... having torque and lots of it down low seems pretty nice. :) It was a bit odd since I am used to revving the piss out of mine and he was probably shifting a good 2000 RPMs earlier. Once he goes through the suspension, gets new wheels and tires, and cleans up the engine bay a bit it should be one hell of a car. :bigthumb: |
