I have been considering getting a replacement car for mine when its sold...so i am here today with a few questions i hope you guys can answer.

First i would like to state the reasons i am interested in a rx7..
I currently have a 91 turbo mr2 that i have done alot of hands on work and done a few track/auto-x events. So i do have a good feel for cars and a respect for them. I am selling my mr2 because in this time in life i need as little stress worries as possible because of my busy schedule. I work full time and go to school full time at night. My week is jam packed usually... so i never get to fully enjoy driving my car especially on weekends since i am busy w/ school work and other events.

So back on subject, i been considering a rx7 FC for some time now.. i always wanted one. I know for sure i dont want a turbo, because i do not have the time and patience for working on it weekly searching for vac leaks and other annoying issues that would cause my car to not run the way it should. I feel i would have less stress if i had a NA, and i will be able to enjoy the car driving to and from work every day and not have to worry to much. My big question is.. how reliable is the FC na? What should i look for? What should i look out for? I would appreciate any helping thoughts and comments. Do you think i should be looking for another car besides a rx7?...I must say i been cautious about buying one because from what i have been told rx7 aren't that reliable...but then again i been told this from ppl that have gone through a FD motor once or twice.

Also this is more of a question for local New Yorkers(i live in Flushing btw), are there any shops in Long island or Queens that do rebuilds ? Also how much do they cost about?

I would suggest finding an FC that is either stock and meticulously maintained or one that has already had aftermarket work done to it, rebuild. Most, if not all, FC's you will find are going to have high mileage due to their age, and all vehicles can be overcome by such issues. Grounding wires seem to be a big thing. Others would have more insight into the complexities and subtlties of the FC, though. Good luck, happy hunting, and looking forward to hearing you purchased an RX!

great to hear a positive feedback from someone on the board. I looked at one fc today, and i going to be checking out 2 more throughout the week.
Anyone know any good rebuild shops for engines? Also what is the average of prices for rebuild of a blown motor?

My FC has 160k and runs great for a 20 year old car. Its also been a daily driver its entire life. My grandfather (who owned it until i got it 2 years ago) is a retired engineer for Dupont, and he says it is still the best car he has ever owned.

I say go for it. But like the other guys said, make sure its in good condition. If you love it, it will love you.
