NoVA/DC Area Track Day, May 14-15, 2011
Okay, I'm planning a track weekend and it would be great to get some other locals out. The event is at Summit Point on the Shenandoah Circuit. It is hosted by Track Daze. This is an excellent outfit offering run groups for all levels including first timers. You will get 4 hours of on-track seat time over the weekend. They offer instructors and classroom sessions for lower groups and open passing (w/point by) for advanced groups (none of that waiting for a straight to overtake nonsense like some clubs).

Let me know if you have any questions about the track or the organization and certainly if you plan to come!

Matt,
I too hope you can get some locals to join you on this, but unfortunately I will not be one of them. I'll be out defending the world again.
Hope whoever goes gets some good pics and vids.

I am somewhat interested in this but I feel like I need to get some things sorted before I commit. And, the date is coming up way to quickly. When is the sign-up deadline? Are you definitely going? I didn't see you name in the attendees list.
Also, are you planning on both days or just one?

Since noone replied I hadn't signed up yet. I still plan on going but I get the feeling the event won't sell out I was waiting till the last minute to see how the weather would play out. I, too, have a few things I need to sort out but when isn't that the case, right?

As much as I would love to go to this I feel like it would lead to a tow bill. I am seriously considering not even autox on the same weekend since I dont know how ready to go my car will be, its been running very lean and the brakes are barely adequate for the short autox track, at a real track they will just fade away

Pretty good weekend. A little rain early Sat and late Sun but mostly dry pavement. I was the only RX-7 in attendance but there were quite a few RX-8s. Lots of $$ hardware though, plenty of vettes, BMWs, a pair of Ferraris F430s, GT-Rs, a Radical SR-3, and a bunch of other fast cars. Will post video in a few days.

See what you all missed? Yes, that's a Ferrari F430 Challenge and a bunch of C6 vettes being overtaken by a stock turbo'd FD with a passenger ;P HD version available, click the video name:

Nice video & driving, wish I could've been there. Where was the audio pickup, just on the camera? The car sounds real good.
Great ending too, that looked on purpose... until the back end came around

Thx, it was fun
I wired a 1/8" mic jack to my camera where the built-in speaker was and ran a cheapy (handsfree phone kit) mic into the trunk of the car where it picks up less wind noise. Seemed to work okay for the most part but I think a better full-range mic might improve things more.
Heh yea, been a full year since I've had any skidpad practice so the skillz were rusty :P
