I am going to be using the 13B-REW as I am already in the process of buying it and I am going to do a big street port and going to eventually do a single turbo conversion and going to use the APexi FC and commander thanks boriqua I will deff be using any engine rebuilt assisstance you can give lol

CrackHeadMel 01-07-08 04:35 PM

How you plan on mounting the REW? gong to drill and tap the irons to accept 2nd gen mounts or make your own crossmemeber

I will definitely be interested in seeing that monster when its finished. Might give me a run for my money.

Hopefully Will be getting it going soon and deff going to port it ASAP I just love the sound lol ok I researhed it but want some opinions on apex seals. What is the big diff between the 3mm and 2mm and 2mm 2 piece? I am looking to get around 400whp maybe a little less and want a good summer driver which would be best for that set up?

CrackHeadMel 01-09-08 03:50 AM

no need for 3mm's

ive read atkin's black seals are pretty good

or sign up for mazdamotorsports, and buy oem 2mm for the same price

OK awesome thnks for the info I was looking at racingbeat.com's rebuild kit and saw that is has 2mm seals and wondered if 3mm were any better or worse. I will keep you posted on when the 13B-REW arrives

boriqua51371 01-10-08 12:49 AM

stay away from oem since if u run high boost and u detonate u will mess up engine/ turbo. i would go with hurleys or atkins as they dont chatter up but i been having bad luck lately with atkins seals. im taking my engine out in the spring because of poor sealing due to apex from atkins going to run some hurleys and see. as far as the rew u will have to do some mods for ur car to accept that motor. custom mt or chage front cover and elminate electronic omp and go with a plate and pre mix.

oh absoulty a custom mounts and does anyone know of a adapter plate to mount the FC tranny up?

CrackHeadMel 01-10-08 04:24 AM

if im not mistaken, it just bolts right on

grade247 01-10-08 10:56 PM

well that is great to hear I like that. Ok another ? I have heard the ecu on the TII is a 8 bit system and the FD is a 16 bit so are my guages going to be a prob abd if so does anyone know of someone who can fab FD guages into a FC or has pics of it done on the forum

Thanks crack and boriqua for the info

CrackHeadMel 01-11-08 03:54 AM

You have to swap the tail section of a fd tranny onto your fc tranny iirc to use the speedo being the speedo sensor is there for fd's

why use fd gauges anyways? personly id stick with the fc cluster unless you want the fd setup to be different

I really don't know why. I like the looks of the FD cluster i guess but I know it would be a huge pain to wire in. on the tail end of the tranny will that bolt up or will anything need to be modified?

ok have to get some tires on the Mazda .. What do ya think ??? Ya I know the car is dirty !!! The first is a 255/16 ...2nd is a 275/60/15 ....3rd is a 325/50/15 :scared:

PoweredByRotary 01-15-08 08:11 PM

I think you should stick with the first option. I don't think you need that much grip from the 2nd and 3rd tires. Plus, it makes your car look like a dragster.

sleepydave 01-16-08 01:19 AM

you didn't read his sig did you. :p
275's and some flaring gets my vote.

Sleeper 6 01-16-08 08:09 AM

CrackHeadMel 01-17-08 04:52 PM

325's get my vote, flare that shit!

tworotorguy 01-22-08 06:27 PM

I have a question for all my fellow rotorheads!? I wanted to know everyones opinion on the Megan racing coils. I want to get some coils but not really wanting to spend lots of cash and no I refuse to buy TEIN i know they are about 3-400 more but really can't stand TEIN. I am just going to run the car as a fun DD with good power and might occasiona;y bring in to the frag to be all the STI guys I know.

I do not know about Megan coils, but why not try a proven competitor:

CrackHeadMel 01-24-08 08:56 PM

i love my tokico's and ebach pro's personaly, hell im still on n/a antisway bars so that has to say something

grade247 01-25-08 12:57 AM

crack and foreign you both suggest I should got with struts and spring over coils. If you both agree they are good quality then sure I was just wondering because I like to mess with damping and such and the spring/strut setup in only what about 2-300 less then coils (not the best coils) but decent quality ones. idk maybe it is just me if you both are running struts and spring then hell can't be that bad if neither of you have any complaints.

another question has anyone come up with a good quality compay to get a engine rebuild kit from since I remeber boriqua saying not to go with OEM apex seals and he was having probs with atkins seals. Has anyone tried and approves the of hurley seals over the other 2?
