yeah, i talked to the kid who owns it, he says it is maybe 300-320 hp, and that his friend who posted it exagerated. but i'm guessing more like 250 tops, because its still on stock turbo, and coudlnt make much more than that on the injectors it has. but i'm going to check it out saterday night. i'm gonna try for cheaper if i can get it to run.

i'm going to bring a compression tester with me also, just to even check that the engine is good. because if i cant get it to start, i might get it cheaper, but if it has good compression that is perfectly fine.

yea, id agree that the true wheel horsepower is closer to 250rwhp, then 320. its a great looking car, andy. hopefully everything looks good and works out for ya. ill call you next week if i go snowboarding.

christian- i have a video of me racing around Lime Rock:
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=605906
i have a super high tech camera mount that consists of my harness bar, zip ties, and my mom's digital camera. if it was a little higher, id get more footage of the track and less of me flailing my arms. im most likely going to get a larger memory stick for the digital camera, and mount it on the center bar of the roll bar. i spend $60-70 on the memory stick, and about $5 on zipties, and im good to go.

it was pending sale so i didnt go look at it. no biggie though, i guess i'll just try and get mine together this year. i may try to pay off a loan i have and take out a new loan to build my engine and get it back on the road. i'll need to make a list of parts to see how much it'll cost me. i kinda wanna go with an rtek 2.0 and a t04b. but i may just go with a bnr stage 3, seems like a good inexpensive way to go. still not sure what to do though.

i was just reading the mass emissions laws. how much of my emissions control do you guys think i can remove and still pass? haha. i'm also looking into running a 2 stroke oil adapter on my metering pump, so it will produce less ash/carbon.

Well Andy, if i were you, i wouldn't even bother going big turbo unless you were running the proper computer, and if I'm not mistaken, the rTek is preprogrammed and doesn't allow much room for self tuning for your specific setup. as far as emissions go, Rick's mechanic has told both of us that with a proper tune on a PFC, you don't even need to use the air pump to pass emissions. so, i guess it all depends on the setup.

Pictures of my car coming up a little later tonight.......

Rick, how do you get the pictures to not show up as attachments and show up full size like yours?

the rtek 2.0 allows for new fuel mapping, and timing. it's new, it just came out recently. what is a mega squirt? i've never realy heard of them. and how much does a pfc go for?

I finished taking my engine apart today. i need 2 rotor housings and a front cover. the irons seem good, and the rotors also seem to be in good shape, i havent realy had a chance to measure things yet, just from the first look.

my plan is to take out a loan for 5-6k to finish my engine and as much else on the car as i can fix. i'm looking at bnr stage 3 turbo's and street porting my engine. i want some sort of ecu upgrade or ems, but dont know how much i'm willing to spend. i also would like to get a tranny in decent shape. we'll see how far it goes. i am starting a list of parts and prices. we'll see how things go.

mega squirt is a full standalone that you _can_ build yourself or buy already assembled. its around the same price as a rtek 2.0

theres a subforum for the mega squirt that can be found here https://www.rx7club.com/megasquirt-forum-153/

Money being no object, I would have gotten a V-mount, but i don't have that kind of bank. The car is in leominster right now Andy, if you want to swing by and check it out. If you ever need help with your car, i'm up that way atleast a few times a week right now.

lookin good, Christian! good call with upgrading the radiator. make sure you keep your undertray; you might have to trim it to make it fit with the FMIC. i have a Fluidyne radiator. do you have a downpipe or midpipe and are you looking into upgrading the factory computer, soon?
here's what my radiator set up looks like:

(hope it helps)

the car's coming out nice. post some pics up once youve got it all back together.

Rick do any of the track events require anything spicial that you do to your car other than what I do for autoX? Such as a cage of anything like that.

when i raced with CART-CT last year, i needed to pass inspection and have a helmet. they put me in a class of novices, so i wasnt racing with anyone overly aggressive. this year, however, modified cars require the driver to have a suit, leather or fire resistant gloves, fire resistant socks, and a harness is recommended.
CART-CT Rules

With NASA, you need a membership, must pass inspection and have a helmet. with the HPDEs, they work you up in levels starting with an instructor, signing you off with improvement.
NASA HPDE

With COMSCC, you need a membership. for my class, i needed a roll bar, 5 point harness, suit, gloves, and racing shoes. im not sure if thats for all classes, though. Eastcoastbumps races with COM, so he'd know a lot more on what's required.
COMSCC

Im not sure whats required with SCCA, but im sure you'll at least need to pass inspection and have a helmet.

your Z is close to stock, right? so you should be all set with just your car being in good working order and a helmet. of course you might want to consider some other things to make you a little safer, but they arent necessary for tech in (for some sanctions.)

i think you'll really enjoy it. you get a lot more seat time then at the autocrosses (i got a little over 100 miles with CART-CT last year.) the downfall is that your car takes more abuse; but it's money well spent, in my opinion.

DO you have any pictures of your radiator Rick, where it mounts. did you use custom brackets? I also have a PFC on the way with the new radiator, so that will be going in right after i get everything back together and running. i worked on the car for a couple hours today and was able to tighten all of the rear suspension and drain the coolant and get the radiator out. i was too cold aftet that, and i really just have to wait on Rx7store......... i will definitely keep everyone posted with pictures.

Has anyone heard from Shawn or Dave lately?

Breaking News! just checked email and of course the PFC is on backorder for a couple of weeks........ oh well no rush with that i suppose.

Rick, can you get me a shot sometime of where the intercooler is mounted as well? i am afraid that where i have mine is going to be too far forward. i do plan on trimming the bumper but it still seems like i won't have enough space.
