porting isn't that hard. you just have to be careful that you don't over port or that you don't lose some shavings down in the turbine. but with the whole thing apart you might as well remove the back side of the turbo and do it with the wg off. get a dremel with a bunch of bits and you'll be all set.

yeah, the wastegate seems simple to port. i have a die grinder to use on that. i was talking about the engine porting also. would it be hard to street port my engine? it doesnt seem too hard, you just have to be pretty precise right?

more like VERY precise. check the faq's. I'm pretty sure there is something on porting. iirc, there is an oil passage under the intake ports so if you go too far south and rupture that passage, your housings are scrap.
Friday was the last day i had my car. now i have a big silver Lincoln town car and i miss it so much. i can't wait for spring. it's good though because now i can get some winter projects done though.

yeah, i'm driving a ford ranger that has almost 190k miles on it. its sooo sloowwww. i cant wait to get my car back together and on the road. but i'll have time to get alot done at least. any projects you had in mind for yours?
#681
woah, Christian! for a second i thought you sold your car ("the last day i had my car.") then i put it together, and realized you put it away for the winter. *phew* anything set up for the FD for over the winter?
lets get a date set for F1. besides the 21st.
pete- you, paddy and claire thinking of going? if you can get a hold of any other subie owners (like Raj, for instance) that would wanna go feel free. i just didnt want anything as big as the last meet, so im not advertising this on NASIOC. there were too many people and not enough structure last time. good group of people all in all though.

full delrin bushing kit that i bought from a forum member is going in soon. mike (300zx) has a press so doing that should be no problem. then im going to try my hand a fabrication and try doing an aluminum or stainless airbox and intake hard pipes. i have in mind something like the m2 box. aluminum is probably not the best bet because of its difficulty to weld and since it absorbs heat, but we'll wait and see. you Rick? and Andy, how about you? other than the engine rebuild.

i'm thinking about doing all polyeurethane suspension bushings, i saw a kit on ebay that seem pretty good. and it seems like a cheaper way to tighten the car up again since all the rubber bushings are dry and rotting.
i also want to go with an rtek after my build. and a t4 compressor housing for my turbo.
i would like to try and get a better tranny, mine isnt superb. as well as a short throw shifter and new bushings.
I have alot of plans including suspension and things, but first i have to aquire the right funding for them.
i'm starting spring semestor getting a network associates certificate, so in a year and a half when i finish i'll be making more money and my first priority will be to finish all the stuff i havent gotten to by then. but for now i'll do the rebuild and a some of the major things to get the car running and driving well, then upgrade from there.
do you guys have an suggestions on things to check/ replace while i have the car apart?

solenoids, brakes, clutch lines and slave cylinder, clutch fork, engine wiring, stuff like that. it could make trouble shooting that much easier when you get the engine back in. then you can say, "well, it can't be that because i checked it".

awesome, thats exactly what i was looking for. also do you know anything about block off plates and what i would need to keep and what i'd need to block off? or simplifying the vacume system so there arent hoses everywhere?

This just in - article ran in Providence Journal - these are David's F1/RA buddies
Local Kart racers are endurance champs in Fla.
01:00 AM EST on Sunday, December 10, 2006
SLO Motorsports, a Kart racing team made up of Greg Reinhardt of Norfolk, Mass., Matthew Ostiguy, formerly of East Greenwich but now of San Diego, Calif., and Jordan Genga, a junior at East Greenwich High School, came in first place Saturday, Dec. 2, in a 6 Hour Endurance Kart Race at Moroso Motorsports Park in Jupiter, Fla., near Palm Beach.
The three teenagers beat out a former winner of the Rolex 24 Hour race and his team as well as a Nascar driving team. SLO Motorsports won the Endurance Kart Race by 45 seconds after 6 hours of driving.
"Each driver does about a 45-minute stint," said Steve Ostiguy, Matthew's father who along with the other fathers helps with training and financial support. He said the family had moved from East Greenwich to San Diego just three months ago.
"And it's not just about going fast," he added. "It's also about strategy." He said the boy's team had the fastest qualifying time and started at the pole position, but fell back during the race -- at one point running 15th out of a field of 22 -- as it took its obligatory 15 pit stops, with two to refuel.
"For the last 45 minutes of the race, Jordan Genga, the team's fastest driver, drove with no pit stops to make," he said. "All the other teams had to stop once or twice more and each time Jordan edged up one place until he was in first place for the last 20 minutes of the race."
The three teenagers will be returning to southern Florida in early January to compete against teams of professional race car drivers for the 24 Hours of America Endurance Kart Race.

not much planned here. i am currently finding new sponsors, with the newest being Diversified Signs and Sparco, and having the RX-7 taken care of as best as i can. The RX-7's still in the shop in connecticut getting the tranny figured out. i might have a problem with the input shaft, but Jesse hasnt taken the transmission apart to find out if thats the problem for sure yet. he'll have nothing but time to check it out, it's going to be in his heated garage all winter.
anyone else want to go to F1 Boston?
i currently have 2 Sparco Torino seats for sale if anyone would be interested. i figured it would be easier to sell locally, so forgive me for posting this up here.

Andy - check out this site. They sell a block off plate kit that includes all of the plates that you need. High quality, low price.

David did this to the AE with the help of MattB (who is still around this forum even though he's a Subie guy now). David can probably give you a few hints. There may also be a write up on F3CSPro.
Christian - get anything in the mail yet?
Rick - The Slo Motorsports team for the 24 Hours of America is all set. We are not able to go but Jordan Genga, Greg Reinhard and Matt Ostiguy (all from the last team) will be joined by A.J. Bloomingdale, Conner Gutterson and Yury Lyalko (A.J. and Connor are two other young guns and Yury is the racing coach that trained them all including David). We're sorry that we can't be there but we're going to plan for the next one. The important thing is that Slo Motorsports is well represented and we have high hopes for them.

haha- so bad you even had to spell it out! only one of the 'nude' pics is me. (NOTE- i was not naked- i was in boxers. no one in the pics were naked. just the camera angle.) im also in a pic about to jump off a dock, staring at a sparkler, and staring at a baby seal. and you dont see anything but my back (with the Lion Tattoo- not the huge bone tattoo), so its all good looks like my chances of ever becoming president are out the window these pics would leak out in no time!

i had to double post this. that was way too funny! that didnt even cross my mind.
"Oh Em JEE!!!"
im laughin my *** off. Good "sighting," Christian. that's my first official 'spotted'- (RX-7 included.)

i see you have found out my second hobby. heidi wanted a fur jacket for x-mas, so drastic measures had to be taken.
heidi and i went to the beach one day and found a beached seal. i hung out with it for a couple hours, cause seagulls kept pecking at it. it eventually went back into the ocean, apparently they beach themselves when theyre sick.
anyone Snowboard or Ski that would be interested in going to the backyard bump that is Mt. Wachusett? i have a pass, and went 3 times last week, and wouldnt mind the company. i saw a FC up there last year (snow on the ground and all) so i figured i might check the forum. i was planning on taking a trip up north sometime to a real mountain (Mt. Killington or Mt. Snow) so if anyone else is interested, maybe we can get a lil trip organized.
