Do we need to pre-register for this sunday event? I/we were under the assumption that we could just show up,pay, and run.If we need to pre-register is it too late?I have no idea what class I am in,but I know I am not going to do very well as it is my first auto-x with this car,and it has been probably 5+ years since I auto-x'd my other RX-7(83 LE),but I just want to go have fun,and at least 2 of my other teammates are doing this for the first time ever,so we have no chance. It will be fun though.

pete, was it white with a blue pearl and c-west headlights and body kit, it's my friend timmy. if it has a wideboday mazdaspeed kit, its this kid tuan.
either way, buy a RX-7 or GC8.
we should go to F1 soon.

I did terrible! The officials also mis-classed me from the get-go,and then I got bumped. They asked me what class I was in,and I had no idea,so they asked me what kind of car I had,and what mods I have done to it.They ended up putting me in SM2 which I think is street mod,and they put another 84 RX-7 with a Holley, and other things done to it in street prepared which is the proper class I think.I ended up getting bumped to D-Mod with the likes of a couple of fully(I mean fully!!) stripped CRX's,a bugeyed sprite, and a spitfire. All of these cars were trailered in,and here I was with a basically stock 79 GS with a header, and streetport exhaust system.Needless to say I was outclassed, but I really didn't care as I am not good at this anyway, and I had fun.
I was impressed that there were probably 4-3rd gens,2 second gens,2-1st gens, and 2 RX-8's.I think Mazda rotary vehicles were well represented.
I have no idea what my times were, but I am sure they were bad.I look forward to going agin next season.

kC's RX-8 was sold at the Nationals. He's co-driving with someone next year. I know he wants to get a Solstice but I'm not sure that is what the co-drive is about.
We'll be back next season, running the same engine (again trying to blow it up). David and I are looking to improve on our 3rd place finishes in SM2 and Novice Non-stock. Oh, that's right, David will not be a "novice" anymore. Uh oh, I better lose some weight if we are both going to compete in SM2.
Christian - Don't forget that important November 15th deadline!
Rick - Hope all is well with you. We miss having your tires in the Slo Motorsports trailer.
Pete - I think that the planets are in alignment and telling you that there is another FD in your future. Or maybe an FC with a 3 rotor swap?

Hey folks...I've got to ask as I'm not sure of the answer... what is the cause for the general apathy toward tracking your cars? Particularly as it relates to FDs? There seems to be a fair amount of interest in autox, I don't know why folks aren't interested in exploring the "big track" option.
I guess one answer may be cost, but at ~$200 for registration for a day at the track, I'm not sure this is significant enough to keep everyone away. Particularly given the amount of $$$ people spend to mod these cars.
Thoughts?

Where with auto-crossing, you sit and wait for your runs and have to work in the heat and continue to wait, Road Racing sends groups out every 20 minutes. So you get 10+- laps every 20+- minutes. Road Racing is the way to go, but like you said it isn't exactly cheap.
i'm also surprised in the lack of appeal to road racing. My first turn off to road racing was the occasional bumper-bumper racing. I was put in a novice class that was spaced out 20 seconds apart, so you barely see any real bumper-bumper action. there are designated passing areas where you can give or are given point bys, so you're not fighting for any position. everyone at the event was really cool. i didnt have anyone in my class that was driving out of control or over aggressive and like auto-crossing, everyone was willing to give any help if needed, whether it be tips or auto malfunctions.
i would hands down say my day at Lime Rock Park was my best day of 2006. anyone who wants to road race, jump on it. it's well worth it.
as for racing in November around Lime Rock, my RX-7 is put away for the year. I would have to race my daily driver (Legacy GT) and with the weight, body roll, and power, it wouldnt be nearly as much fun as the RX-7. i am looking to do a lot more road races this year ('07) then last. Im looking to race Lime Rock and the Poconos with CART-Ct, SCCA, and COM. i'm probably gonna do some Auto crosses, just to keep my numbers up for the Mazdaspeed Team Sponsorship, but not nearly as many (not that i raced all that much last year) as last year.
no-cones: why havent we met you yet?

Slo- hey guys. alls going well over here. i actually put my tires up for sale, so if you want them back in your trailer . i am taking classes now and that's keeping me busy. how's work and school going for you guys? any luck with the college research? we should get together sometime, maybe meet somewhere to catch up. i think we should set up a winter beater meet sometime. Just so the RX-7's dont get pushed to the back of our minds over winter.
i picked up a new project last week. it's a 98 Impreza that my friend and i are looking to build up for rally racing. so over the winter, im gonna be focusing a lot more attention on that then the RX-7. (exactly what i needed- one more money pit.)
Christian- sorry i couldnt make the meet. like i said, we should set up another one before it snows.
Pete- you know it's a sign. How are you gonna top the LS-R1? that's gonna be a little tricky. 3 rotors would probably do the trick or a Single Turbo 13B.
hope everythings good with you guys.

Paddy will be going to LRP with COM. I won't be tracking my WRX, and I have no intentions of co-driving. I think I'm done for the season, unless a track ready car falls in my lap.
I almost bought a '95 Impreza L that was already caged and track ready, but the seller would not negotiate on price, so I gave up on him and that car. Like I said before, it will be tough not to get into another Impreza, with all the suby parts I have lying around. I've got a set of Stoptechs, Tein Flex coilovers, Cobb sway bar, EJ22T motor, STI BBS wheels with RA1's, and a pair of Recaro SPG's all collecting dust in the garage.

Great post...thanks for taking the time. I encourage as many rx owners as possible to give road racing a try. As mentioned here, once you give it a try it's tough to drop the habit. As far as seeing me around...I have been in hibernation for a number of years. I was heavy into track days around here till ~'00 since then my car has been essentially mothballed. I have just now gotten back to the business of driving. I don't put many street miles on the car so the best chance of catching-up with me is with COM @ the track (I occasionally instruct for other clubs as well).
Anyways, again thanks for beating the track drum. It's a shame to see so few FDs on the track nowadays.
Take care,
Jeff

You get 5 runs tops (on a quick day) for $30 (SCCA Members). 5 runs equates to maybe 7 miles, tops. so you can spend @$250 for +-100 miles or $30-40 for +-6 miles?

well, so much for my car running well. it was fine this morning. then on my way home from school it wasnt boosting all the way. I figure i better just take the motor out before i run into any serious problems and total the rotors and housings before i get to rebuild. what do you guys think is a better option, should i send my motor to that guy keven at Rotary Resurection to be rebuild/street ported? or should i do the rebuild and porting myself?
I'm jelous of your guys who have suby's, i had a 2.5 rs last year. i wish i could get another suby for a winter car. my friend put a 20g in his wrx last weekend. that thing is pretty quick now. reminds me of how i will miss awd this winter driving my parents ranger haha.
