I'm in V8 withdrawal. I went for a drive in Paddys new STi. Its slow. Then I went for a drive in my WRX. Its slower.

I've started looking for a disposable track replacement. I've found that the owners of POS hondas think that they're made of gold. I thought I had a lead on a great '92 hatch that I could use for track duty. It was poorly put together, high miles, painted flat black and had a H22 swap. The guy wants $6k for it!

Then I found another '92 hatch on craigslist with a turbo'd B18. He said it won't start and didn't put an asking price so I gave him a call. The motor is siezed and he wants $3700!

So I'm now on the look out for a '93-'01 Impreza with AWD and a 5 speed. I've already got a bunch of parts that will fit it. And I like Subarus.

Pete - It must be tough to even try to fill that void. I know that you are up to the challenge. Hey, want to help David and I put a 13BT into a 1978 Triumph Spitfire. We want to make a Miata eater!

Rick - Good to hear from you finally. We were worried that you ran off, got married and bought that minivan. :-)

David has been in the thick of his college visits. The AE finally came out of the trailer after being in there since the NER Labor Day event. He is getting it ready for some new white paint. David just can't leave that car alone. We're not going to make it for the Team Challenge (10/22) event due to another college "open house" scheduled for that day.

yea, im sorry. ive taking a short hiatus. ive been taking classes monday through wednesday and ive been 'forced' to go visit heidi every weekend at her beach house in Fairhaven. other then that, im pretty much the same. i think i mightve gained some weight, but other then that im pretty much the same. plus it's getting closer to winter time. all my attention has been refocused from the RX-7 to the Legacy. i'm looking into some little mods here and there for it so i can hopefull rally cross a little this winter. im sure the collins know what im talking about with extra money pits lying around.

Christian- I'm not sure what i've got planned for Monday yet. Heidi's gonna be home this weekend and im forcing her into a Subaru meet this friday so i dont know if shed be up for another one. but ill let you know before the end of the weekend.

Pete- id imagine nothings gonna feel the same as that car, well i guess unless you get a camaro or corvette. id go with a Impreza- keep it in the subaru family. plus all wheel drive versus front wheel drive? come on, what else do you have to think about? a little 2.5 coupe weighs about 300lbs more then a Civic, so its not like weight should be a problem. why do i feel like im trying to sell you on Imprezas? you know the car better then i do. if you get a 2.5 i have a brand new Borla Header for it.

Hey guys,

Sorry I could not make it out today(I had to work).I wanted to let you guys know that I am not going to make it to Japanese Car Day at the Larz Anderson museum this saturday.I am however planning on going to the auto-x team day thing on the 22nd with a friend, and his sons.I have never done a SCCA auto-x,but I am looking forward to going, and flogging the 79 GS for a day before we have to put away our fun machines for the winter months.

It says Team Challenge for the 22nd. Does that not mean what I think it implies?

I believe it is a team of 4 drivers/cars.I think they even give out trophys to the most original team name/uniform,and other wierd things like that.

If you were asking if it needs to be a team from the regular auto-x events?I don't believe you need to have a team from the begining of the year or anything like that.I think the rule is you can't have more than one class leader on your team,or maybe it is no class leaders on a team.As far as I know you can show up the day of the event with 3 other drivers, and call yourselves a team, and run the event, but maybe someone with more experience in this can elaborate.

We're not going to be able to go on the 22nd but don't fret about the details.

The idea is to create a team (no one has had a team before this event) of drivers that race in different classes. You get points for how each of your drivers place in their respective classes. So if your team is made up of drivers that are all in the same class, it hurts you because the best that you could do is to get 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place and 4th place. If you were all in different classes or at least a few different classes you might be able to get a couple of 1st places with a couple of 2nd places (this would be extremely unlikely, considering the talent of the "regular" drivers). The "Class Champion" thing is that they want to make sure that they don't get elite teams made up of the "Class Winners" from past seasons. This would be extremely unfair.

The whole concept is to just have fun and be creative with your team. Team logos, outfits etc. are areas where you could be more competitive than on the track.

Just remember to take lots of pictures so that you can share them with the forum. Have fun!

If anyone's looking for a team, I've got a team of two but I think we need two more. I gotta get in contact with my teammate. We'll both be in 1989 Toyota MR2's.
