its not even about being an autocrosser. massive amounts of useless power is just that: useless. you can tune a car to make as much power as is physically possible on a dyno, but if you cant use that power on the street, strip, autocross, or track it's useless other then trying to impress people with how much power you don't use. the amount of power actually useable will vary from motorsport to motorsport, as you pointed out with autocrossing. im not going to lie, i still get excited about seeing dyno charts with immense amount of power. but i love them even more with a great looking power curve. speaking of a perfect set up and building for dual purposes, im anxious to see what Ernie T does with his drag car and track days. no question that thing is a monster on the strip. im anxious to see if he can figure out a way to make it as dominating on the track.
power is still useful in autocrossing though. i still need to go from one killed cone to the next as quickly as possible. as soon as im done braking, i need to be quick on the gas and need to have the power to get there faster then the competition.
im hoping to get tuned on Lime Rock, NHIS, or the new Palmer Motorsports Park so it will be set up for track use. dyno tuning mixed with street tuning is good, but i dont feel will be as perfect as track tuning. i can dyno tune for 130+ mph on a dyno, but i will not know what will actually happen in real life instances with a tune on the street. on the track, ill be tuning it for exactly what i need it for. We'll see how much PSI we go with. But driveability and response is definitely the main objective.
Gen- i dont know if you were asking me my power numbers because you were considering just tuning the twins to the max or not, but if thats the case id highly recommend figuring out what you ultimately want the car to do. enjoy the twins while you have them. everyone seems so quick to ditch them for single; occasionally with good reasons such as heat or blown twins, but it seems people just want the immediate power payoff. the twins have a lot of potential that is often overlooked. my car with twin turbo set up doesnt put down a crazy amount of power im sure, but still has the power and response to make it a great contender. my car is easy to drive, easy to control, quick spooling, well rounded, and is a hell of a lot of fun to drive. i am confident i can easily take out heavier cars with more power then me on a track with my set up. i kept up with a Z06 around Lime Rock in the twisties. Of course he got me on the front straight, but that's where the power difference is the biggest issue. you dont need to be single to have the most fun. im going single (or possibly upgraded twins) eventually, so im going to enjoy the stock twins to the max between now and then.

i saw a black FD base in front of my building at UMass Amherst today. i didnt feel like waiting to meet the owner for once (im under the weather.) i wasnt too tired to check it out though. it had 2 subs in the back, a tan interior, yokohama tires, and a coconut tree freshener. really cool to see on campus. i also saw a white GXL (?) friday at UMass. im pretty sure he goes here.
not really relevant to Massachusetts, but i saw 3 FC's over the weekend in Vermont. more over one weekend then ive seen all year in massachusetts.

from montego blue to brilliant black? as long as the paint is done properly (everything taped off, cleanly done, no paint drip or overspray) so it looks stock, i cant see it depreciating the value. it might even add value. go with whatever color you want, unless you have every intention of selling it. then i would keep it montego blue for posterity.
i cant wait to get a paint job. black, but not sure what code. maybe berlina black, obsidian black, or mercedez designo charcoal. ive been eying some blues, but its always tricky with bright colors. i want something i know ill like years down the road. i have actually been tempted to go with RE Amemiya Super G green, but am thankful i didn't. i love the color, but dont know if i could stand it forever. no matter what color i go with, it will look better then the stock paint i have on it now.
let me know what color you go with. i dont think i have seen your car. do you have any pics?

aha we're all glad you didnt go Super Green xD
ive been thinking of a charcoal grey for my FD... red is nice but... it gets me in trouble... even when im not doing anything wrong. i got pulled over for doing 67 in a 65 once.

Hey Rick, i'll be at umass amherst next semestor. i'm hoping to figure out a new fc for spring but we'll see how that goes.... but it would certainly be alot of fun on the roads out there.

Right, but the WHOLE POINT IS TO REPLACE THE HARNESS THAT IS IN MY CAR.
The harness adaptor is just so the PFC works on an S5 instead of an FD. I would still have the crappy 20 year old cracking and frayed wiring harness.
Edit:
150$ eBay intercooler/piping kit. Two holes were already cut in the frame due to the previously installed FMIC. Fog lights and front bumper support retained, no hacking of front bumper. No relocation of battery. Trailing Coil pack relocated to driver's side strut tower. Sleeper mounted with stealth piping. Factory charge pipe installed upstream using a 2.5 to 2.0 coupler. BAC valve retained.
It's a little laggy . Nothing a BNR Stage 2 can't fix! I'll be in the 12s by March.

hey izzy whats up? i've been meaning to ask you, do you have any decent engine parts? I need rotors and an e-shaft, and i heard fd rotors work ok in an older engine..... higher compression right?
