Coke,
myself and YF-19 were talking last night and we might be able to work something out with the vents you wanted. I was thinking of just making the shape peice on top and cutting 3 slashes in it and calling it a day. You could fasten it to the dash with superglue or double sided tape.

I doubt it because last I checked the RB flywheel could be resurfaced when you wreck it trying to become a drag racer.

I'm going to stop by Rod's this saturday and see if anything's new. 100% doubtful but I'll shop up just for kicks anyway. I have to stop by the exhaust shop to pick up my hold mufflers anyway so it's just a hop down the beltway.

Ok quick update on my Mazda 3, for those that care, anyone that doesn't shouldn't read this post and/or comment on it, or any of its trail post later. i.e. Sean

(BTW, Dansbbb, where in Derwood are you? I live like 3mins for the metro, We should meet up.)

Ok so far I've kill a number of civics, eclipse, a few VWs (GTi, and GTL), every camery and accord that's pick a fight, a number of focus, a few Sicon Tc, one Celica, two Civic Si (might have been the same person). Btw, I didn't start any of these races, (expect the GTi, I started that one). Sadly this is where my winning record ends. Tonight (May 5) I raced a Ford Crown Vic (they started the fight) and loss..... in the twisties. I was in Damascus, and on my way home, when this Crown Vic challanges me to a race on this mad twisty road, so I'm thinking to my self, ok we're on this straight, he's crush me here when he goes by, but once we hit the first turn its game over. So we get to turn one, and I **** you not, he drifts it perfectly. Keep in mind the crown vic weight more then some SUVs, at a pleasently plump size of more then 4000lbs. he gets straight again I'm pretty much on his tail but its on last straight before it becomes nothing but turns. He pulls away hard, like maybe..... 8 or 9 cars leights on me, from here on out its basically just s curves one after another, this is where I play catch up and mange to get back on his ***, it wasn't easy either, for a vic, this guy was glued to the road. the car didn't pitch or weave, or fish at all. So we get to the end of the s curves and its much straighter for here on out for a while, so he comes to a stop and lets me pass, I go buy at like 30, I thought he was stopping because that's where he lives, but he pulls right behind me. I I'm like ****, its all straight. I swear I couldn't see his headlights that's how close he was, then a couple of turns come up, nothing too difficult, but its enough to make him back off a bit. We hit the last turn until we need to turn Left onto another road, so we do, now this is where I wanted to cry, it was a short (like less then a quarter mile short) straight before it was sharp hairpins that post people do 15miles an hour at, and I dont feel comfortible doing more then 30 in. The Vic slammes on the gas, all I hear is the rumble of a V8 charge right pass me I thought this guy was gonna kill himself because there was no way in hell he stood a chance to brake and make those 4 hairpins. I honestly thought I was gonna have to call a tow truck, he slams on the brakes, I'm far enough away where I dont need to brake too hard to slow down, but close enough to witness what I'm about to say, this dude not only makes the first turn, but he drifts it, the road is so narrow, that his back tires kick up dust and crap, then the counter turns, drifts the next corner, at this point I'm in shock... I thought he must have lost control of the car and he was just spinning out of control (mind you this is all in a neighborhood so I know this area is gonna be hot with police patrol for the next month or so, not to mention that most of Montgomery Counties finest live in the neighborhood we were tearing through.) So yah he pull out of the second corner, and pulls away in the next two corners, he was going so fast that I didn't see him until I came to a stop at the stop sign at the end of the road, he just gave me a blank stare and drove away..... I drove home in shock.... I need to find this guys and have him sign my shirt or something..... Ok I'm done.... btw, being owned buy an american car is no fun, but being owned by one in the corners is just unacceptible... hum... maybe I should have bought a wrx

update: The supra is at the shop now...nice big hole in the bone yard at johns.

also for those of you that would never think it possible...we towed it out with Davids busted *** MR2 and it did it PERFECTLY without losing ANY traction (yes...a light mark1 MR2 pulled a 2 ton supra AND with a completely flat tire on soft ground)...he even PUSHED (as in bumper-on-bumper contact) down the long driveway when i was trying to push start it.

BUT....the engine is still at johns. if anyone is available today 5ish to move it, i WILL need help (better than the 3 hour notice i put yesterday). i would have moved it yesterday but the tow truck guy didnt get at johns at 5 like i requested...he showed up at 6:15...the shop closed at 6....so im gonna move that tonight.

none of you will see it run till november when i get back. im trying to get it running so i have something to drive when im down in Mississippi.

also thanks to jason and "the other guy" (i forgot the name) for coming to johns even though there wasnt anything to do since tow guy was late

funy part...the tow guy ended up being the same guy thats been towing my car around ever since i first got the car so he remembered me and the work i did to it. he also remembered my annoying ex-g/f.

ARGH!

i'm fed up with my slow POS corolla. fed the hell up. there's no aftermarket whatsoever, and when a company comes up with a good option, the kids whine about the price so much that it's useless to even hope there will BE any aftermarket in the future. my year corolla, on top of that, is seen as the "bastard child" of the corolla family. there's a bunch of cosmetic options, but it appears all the companies who make stuff for the corolla forgot about my year.

grrr i hate my car. i need something about the same size, but with a better starting point. anyone have any good suggestions for me?

any other constraints? power? cost? country of origin?

you could always get a Scion Xa with the **geeky asian voice** "turbo timer and boost controller"**/geeky asian voice**

also some considerations......see if you can find out if theres a bigger engine that can be put in with little to no effort. toyota usually has a habit of making a few engines that are close enough to be used for direct drop in. check out like celica engines from around the same year especially the engine out of a Celica GTS.

um.

i was going to do the 2ZZ swap, but after having my motor and 6-spd tranny STOLEN, my heart's not in it. on top of that, i don't want to do anything else to the corolla. it came to me abused, and i've been fixing it ever since. for a 2001 vehicle, i shouldn't have to do that.

beyond that...i really don't want to do a motor swap for my daily vehicle. i'd rather start with a better base than the corolla.

*coughs* no, i'd have considered a Mazdaspeed Protege...that's it.

price - something that i'd not have to spend much to get. the corolla would get me a trade worth about $5-6k, depending on where i go. i need a 4-banger daily driver type thingo with little-to-no warranty, but in decent shape. preferably Japanese...if i got my hands on another Z24 i'd probably kill myself with all the crap i'd do to it.

also - something with a decent aftermarket.
