ROFLMAO have you ever seen a stock FD engine bay? you'd get your panties in a twist trying to figure out the wiring in that thing, and the engine bay? good luck! RX7's>Supra on complications in the engine bay ><

Hrmm... I broke down and bought a clutch for the FC. I should have it tomorrow morning and in by 1-2pm hopefully. The FD housings seem to be in good shape. I'm still trying to get them clean before gauging them but I'm going to go ahead and buy the rebuild kit and PowerFC on monday

ok, update on my pain in the ***:
-plugged the ACV + air pump back in just so I don't have to worry about them for now.
- Car still dosn't hold idle, just stalls.
- isn't the intake. checked that and its fine.
- isn't the BACV
- Pretty sure it isn't the TPS, but not 100% sure.
Q: if my front E-shaft oil seal is leaking would that be the prob?

Ok, I"m comming out and saying it like a man. "HELP!"

hey all thanks for the welcome!!
yea.. i sure do hope i know what i'm getting myself into. lol

i just got this FC a couple of days ago. and the prev owner believed in making a homemade exhaust system (from the header)

so i ordered new parts for it so i can pass inspection.. anyone know anyone dat can help out a guy for installation? =P

parts:
racing beat header/downpipe
universal high-flow cat
corksport exhaust

might have to weld the cat on and stuff..
am willing to pay! .. just not anything crazy. =P

thanks!

I charge based on how much free time I have. Right now I am over a billion yen an hour.

Your exhaust is going to be loud . . . :P

I wanna see pics of your homemade exhaust!!

Sounds like a VAC leak. A huge one.

MAN! The SE guys have their own lounge! I wonder if we could get a "Maryland Guys" subforum, then we could fill it posts instead of cramming it all into one massive thread that no one in their right mind would read all the way through!

Then the Richmond guys could have their own subforum . . . .

FOUND THE PROB, After getting quite pissed at my baby and throwing my tools ALL over my yard and garage, I took carb cleaner and starter fluid and had the crazy idea it was the injectors. Turns out that when I sprayed the rear primary injector with something cumbustable the car would idle fine till it burned off what I sprayed. So i'm left with the conclusion that the gromets around the injectors being old as the may be, need replacment.
Sound familiar Jason?

Oh well, at any rate i think I might put put my 7 to the meet even, depsite the fact I have 14 projects going on on it at the same time, no joke.

Sounds all too familiar.

Burn your injectors to teach them not to eat grommits.

Well the new (cheap clutch. not the ACT) is installed. This atleast gets the car mobile again. I've got to get a new temp registration though. So now the remaining issues with the FC are:

1) Horn inop
2) Rear passenger side turn signal light bulb holder is missing
3) Need new suspension in the rear (maybe up front also, hard to tell since the rear is so bad)
4) Rotors and pads all the way around
5) (NEW) broken O2 sensor wire (broken several inches after the white connector on the harness side of the wire. I'll probably end up running this directly to the ECU.)

There's been no further progress on the FD motor. I will however be ordering the rebuild kit tomorrow from RotorSports Racing in Kannapolis, NC. I'll probably be going with OEM apex seals tho so if anyone wants to by any new RA seals, I have them. (These are NOT from the bad batch of seals, I just don't want to use harder seals on used housings.) Or should I hold out another month and buy new housings? My FD's never gonna get finished at this rate.

well .. yea.. i'm just looking for someone to install it and not charge CRAZILY. lol.

well.. my exhaust is already very very loud. this homemade exhaust
consists of tin can and a huge universal fart cannon lol.

*its just a long pipe with an exhaust at the end* and it leaks. it's very... very..
loud. lol.

Well, I'm asuming you've got yourself a turbo. So just disconnect the whole homemade exhaust and go streighthrough. That would be sweet.

Oh yes, wear ear protection

Bolting up an exhaust is easy. I can show you what to do if you drop by my house or the garage sometime.

It's the relay under the drivers side kick panal. Bypass it.

Comon over, I'll give you that for free.

3) Need new suspension in the rear (maybe up front also, hard to tell since the rear is so bad)
Eibach springs ($200) w/ KYB AGX shocks! ($400)

4) Rotors and pads all the way around
I reccomend the Mazda pads! I've got them on my 'vert and they are so much better then most aftermarket, I cant even describe it. Sweeeet.

5) (NEW) broken O2 sensor wire (broken several inches after the white connector on the harness side of the wire. I'll probably end up running this directly to the ECU.)
Running it directly to the ECU is a good idea, but some models of RX-7 the O2 wire is sheilded. You must be careful to not touch the sheilding to the O2 sensor wire!

should I hold out another month and buy new housings? My FD's never gonna get finished at this rate.
Ask Kevin Landers that question. I am personally for using the OEM seals on the used housings.

You dont always have to replace apex seals you know, as long as they are within spec. Even Mazda, when they rebiuld engines, leaves the apex seals in there if they are within spec.

no no no.. thats the thing! it's N/A!! v. loud
i wish this was minor bolting. i'm just waiting for my parts to arrive.
i'm pretty sure i'm going to need to weld the high-flow cat on.
