i just got my car back together and after running prerfect for about 1 hour it decided to make fun of me by spitting Oil ALL OVER THE PLACE. I believe it to be comming from the seals to the oil pump (not the oil metering pump).

Thats part of the beauty of a 7. Reliabilty is a measure of the thickness of your wallet.

No honestly... I should've checked this car out ALOT more than what I did before I bought it. As a few guys here have seen, on the outside it looks great but thats about where the good stops. In the end this FC is turning into a complete build up starting mainly from just a good chasis, and intact exhaust system, and well... I'll just call it a running engine. I don't regret buying it though, it just would have been nice to know what I was getting myself into before bringing it home and putting tags on it.

Bla.
I bought that GTU for 500 bucks, needed a new trans cost me another 80 bucks for a running car with weak oil seals. While I was at it, I had the motor rebuilt

7 owners dont KNOW unreliability. These cars are around 15 to 20 years old!

Try owning a Doge Neon after five years; Most people dont make it ONE, let alone THREE! Or almost any (In order, most reliable to least) British, French, Italian, 'Slavian, Korean, or Russian car!

In the relm of Japanese cars, they are by far more reliable then the early Nissans, and most Mitsubishis (even of today!) (cough, MOPAR, cough)

Most people complaining that the 7s are unreliable tend to have over 120,000 miles on the clock, and/or heavy mods and flaky previous owners! You should be overjoyed a sports car made it that far and is still able to be repaired!

hey no offense ... but by design rotary engines wear faster than piston engines... i have the wear equations to prove it ...

but yeah... definitely about the creative drivetrains

Thats why rotaries are required huge weight penalties and are banned from so many classess of racing! Because they suck so much, they need to be penilized to make them suck more so PEOPLE WILL STOP BUYING THEM ARGH! :-p

Wear equasions? Lets see 'em, I'm curious

Yeah, wasn't it because of the engine size difference, seeing as they are only a 1.3L engine, putting out big HP numbers in such a small engine?

this site does not support microsoft equation editor so here is the layman's version

i said nothing about the effectiveness of a rotary engine in a race, i like rotaries, it is stop and go traffic that is the downfall of the wunderengin.

there is no way to accurately model the material consistancy of the apex seals and side seals. the wear of both the housing and the seal will not be constant under these carying conditions when compared to a piston engine where the oil control and seal rings do not change orientation during the combustion and power cycles of the engine

all apex seals come into contact with the entire circumference of the housing at some point during a cycle. which means that there are three non-deal wear elements bearing on a surface during each full rotation of the rotor

this makes a far less ideal wear condition than a piston engine. efficiency has nothing to do with wear.

i speak only to the reliablility and lifespan not the power capabilities and racing success and marketability of the rotary so stick that bullhockey in the holding bin for the next argument.

there are other wear points in piston engines though that need that nice oil to stay safe.

ask me how i know

i know... but you cant make a comparison based on wear that does not exist in the other engine... its just a comparison of couterpart wear

never said there werent umpteen billion more moving parts in a piston engine
