(and a 350 drops strait into stock engine mounts)
400 has the same mounts as a 350, takes the same heads and all, just has 50 more cubes

Most 4.0L Jeeps are bulletproof reliable

the AMC 232 engine was slow, yes (it dragged the heavy AMC Rambler through the 1/4 in a whopping 20 seconds) but it could take a hardcore beating. That is the engine that lead to the 4.0L we now find in a lot of jeeps.

The 4.0L drags jeeps all over the place, giving them the reputation for being bulletproof. It is a fantastic engine for a nice and simple platform.

Dispit its low rating in side impact, CR put in on its list of best 50 cars for 2005, falling short only to the prius, and other toyota crap that one wants to drive other then soccer mom's and sean. So there.

As of these next two days I'm planning on getting rid of the following emission equipment. I wanted to post before hand to see if anyone knows something I don't about the effect of what I"m about to do.

Getting rid of:
-Air pump
-air controll valve
-air chamber
-relief silincer (eage8 can use this after chili night!)
-EGR valve

Of course I'll have to make custom block off plate to cover the wholes to the EGR and ACV valves' holes. and plug up all vacum lines etc. I was wondering how this would effect things like starting the car, the idle, the computer?
I read alot on this and came to the conclusion it wasn't a big deal.
Thanks guys

You are not going to pass Maryland emissions without that air pump. In the People's Republic you have to put it on a "treadmill" too.

I'm pretty sure NAs need the airpump to work the 5th and 6th ports... ask tofuball about it.

Yes, you will need to fab something else up to make the aux ports work, since you are yanking the ACV and Airpump. Also S5 NAs dont have an EGR valve.

No, you need the airpump. You want a nice lean mix of air getting to the cat on certain engine states, so that it can operate at its peak efficiency. Without it, your family will die, cold and alone, in the Springfield Interchange (The MixingBowl)

yeah, that would work... that's what he's doing with his. I'm probably going to get one in a couple years when I have to do emissions for the second time... or just barrow someone elses that'll have one by then.
