I would like to gauge interest in creating our own Rotary Run, not to compete with the DGRR by any means, but to use what natural beauty we have in our own back yard.

The Kancamagus is a 32 mile pass that twists and turns up and down the White Mountains of New Hampshire, peaking at 3,000 feet. If any of you have been on it, I am sure i do not have to sell you on it; it is a joy to drive, even in my underpowered, body rolling Subaru.

Responsibility is always key with these events, as we don't want to give our community a bad name or for anyone to get hurt; rotary patron or any other motorist. I dont mean to be dramatic, but there is literally danger at every corner if you do not fully respect the highway.

I was thinking we can gauge interest and either plan it for a 1 day event or 2 day event. It's a perfect spot for outdoors activities, such as swimming, hiking, bbq'ing, sightseeing, or even camping. There are towns at both ends of the highway, so we can find a place to get some food after the event.

Any ideas or would anyone be interested in going if we can organize an event? Again i do not want to compete with Phil's DGRR so we will plan it around that. I'm thinking late Spring or Early summer would be great, I don't have the A/C to deal with late New England Summers and long car trips.
I'm trying to come up from Maryland for the meet and was wondering what time it will take place and where do we meet? Will the shirts be available at the meet or online only? If you could give some insight it would be helpful as I could not find anything about it other then the date.

that would be cool if you could come up. you should see if anyone from NY, NJ, or PA are shooting up and try to meet up with them to make it easier.

the details have gotten lost in this thread, so i am currently compiling a master post for reference.

I am going to try to get the t-shirt design finished for next week and i will set up my PayPal account for people to buy one and i can bring them to the meet for you. I will also set it up for people to buy one after the event and i can ship it out. unfortunately i cant afford to print a bunch of different sizes and bring them, so i am going to make them specifically for people after i receive the payments.

Just to double check: we dont want white t-shirts, right? What color?

blue would seem like a good color for the tees? Quick off subject but, have two friends that don't have rotary cars but would like to come, Would they be welcome?

If you bring shirts let me know, I would like to pic up one for the meet....what's the cost? thanks for the info. Mike MD

if they are willing to drive up from Maryland of course they would be welcome.

i am not too sure of how much the t-shirts are, but they are going to have to be prepaid and you can pick them up at the event or i can mail it out to you.

i will have the final design up soon and you can start PayPaling me if you want one. they should be a little above $20.

here's what i came up with for a final T-shirt design (on black):
(i was supposed to be doing some financial reporting, but this was a lot more fun)

i think its a pretty basic shirt design, but i like it. if everyone agrees on the design i can get these printed.

here's how pricing will go: if i only make 1, it will be $25. if i make 5, it will be $24.40 each. if i make 25, it will be $21.40 each.

just to get a tally going, i will start it off. please note this list is if you can commit to buying one, not just if you like the shirt (compliments and criticism is welcome though.)

1. ZumspdRX-7: 2 Large t-shirts; Shirt total: 2

I would prefer PayPal for payment, so i dont mix my own money with the T-Shirt funds (im an accountant and i can handle it, but to avoid complications id rather keep it separate.) I can accept money orders and cashier checks if you don't have a PayPal account.

Please email me if you want to buy one (zumspdrx7@yahoo.com) as my PM box is almost full. please include:
Name, Screenname, Shirt Size, Quantity, Payment type, and if you want it shipped out (+$3.50 include address) or if you will be picking it up at the event.

I dont know about everyone else, but i am getting pretty excited about this meet. i drove my FD over 300 miles in 24 hours friday and saturday, and i cant wait to drive all over New Hampshire.

I apologize for the cluster of details right now. I will have them all worked out shortly.

Okay guys. As the cruise date starts creeping up on us, i'm sensing that there is less and less of a set schedule. Is someone an official spokesperson for the cruise? Is there an official post of the final decisions?

I think we should erase all 5 pages, have one person post all the information with all the people who responded to going, and then lock the thread.

I know Rick is cross posting on 8club as well, but I wanted to check in here. It looks like there will be a pretty large group heading north right through RI. If that is right there are a few of us in RI that can meet up with you on the way through our corrupt little burg.

I will come up with an info center or easy on/off the highway in the RI area and see if we can't coordinate that.

Saturday Cruise Map 190+- miles, 5 and half + hours of driving. Kancamagus Highway and Hurricane Mountain Road.
Lunctime: G&H Pizza in Lincoln, NH. No set time as it will be when we get there
7:30: Dinner after cruise ends. Tentative time as we will site see along the way. I will make reservations at a restaurant that can support all of us for 7:30.
End cruise in Conway, Nh. Please try to find a hotel in the area. We are trying to find a hotel that will give us a discount.

Sunday:
8:00am: Meet at Hotel where everyone is staying.
8:20: Drivers Meeting
8:30: Start Cruise to Bear Notch Bear Notch Cruise
10:30: cruise from Bear Notch Run to Synaptic 3 Engineering Shop Cruise to Synaptic3
1:30: Synaptic3: Meet and Greet, Shop Tour, BBQ, dyno runs

I will PM everyone my phone number before the event, that way you can call me in case you are running late. I understand there are a lot of people coming up from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and one from Maryland for this event and that would be horrible if we left without you. Please try to get to the meeting point early though. I will most likely be at the Tilton Island Park for 10, so look for a all Black RX-7.

Things to Bring:
Your car in good working order.
A friend or 3 (depending on what vehicle you are bringing.)
Tools
Oil
Coolant (If need be. I always bring mine just in case.)
Water and other drinks
Snacks
Gas money
Food money
Map of Area
Print out of the Maps above, or at least the directions
Cell phone
Walkie Talkie

Rules:
I want this event to go off as smoothly as possible and I want all attendants to be as safe as possible. Responsible driving will be expected at all times. The roads we will be driving on will be open to the public, meaning there will be traffic going both ways. No cutting corners on the mountain roads.

You will get one warning if you are driving irresponsibly. The second notice will be a request to leave the cruise. I don't want to be a buzzkill, but i don't want anyone getting hurt. One irresponsible person could ruin a whole weekend for everyone.

Its kind of a common law, but please don't litter. What we take with us we will take out with us. The country is beautiful and we should try to preserve it as such.

No speeding, highway roads or back roads.

Have fun. We are here for that one thing. So lets make this a great event that we can hopefully make an annual occurrence.

T-shirts:

Price: $23. (The price to print one is $25, the price to print 5 is $24.40 each, the price to get 10 is $23.65 each, and so on. I Imagine we will get at least 10 requests, so I will set the price at $23. i am not going to make any money on this, but I will need to at least cover the costs to make them.)

T-shirts will be available for this cruise and you can either have them mailed to you or pick them up at the event.

Unfortunately i cannot front the money to print up a lot of different sizes, so you will have to prepay for them. I would prefer PayPal for payment, but will accept a Money order or Cashier's check.

If you would like a T-shirt please email me at ZumSpdRX7@yahoo.com with the title "Kancamagus T-Shirt" and include your name, t-shirt size, t-shirt quantity, preferred payment, PayPal account if applicable, way of picking it up (at event or mailed to you,) if mailed out please include an address for me to mail it to.

Thanks for helping make this happen. Lets try to make this the best event that we can.

I hope to see you all there. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at ZumSpdRX7@yahoo.com

I don't think I will be able to make the trip up to NH this time around.

Hope the cruise goes well and I may still pick up a shirt, as the design came out very nicely

Here's some new information on the event:

  • If you want to pick up a T-shirt at the event, I am going to have to have your order in by April 15th. Otherwise, i will have to mail it out to you.
  • If you want a T-shirt, email me at ZumSpdRX7@yahoo.com

There is going to be a raffle at the BBQ of various performance parts, courtesy of Synaptic3.
  • (I will have a list of the items being raffled off as soon as Synaptic3 compiles it.)

Synaptic3 will have their new dyno up and running for the event and you can purchase dyno runs at the event.
  • I will have the price of the dyno runs up as soon as i get it.
  • They have a set up on their dyno that will allow drag racing between two cars at the same time.
  • They are computer tuners of various softwares, but I am not sure if they will be doing dyno tunes or just runs. As soon as I know that info I will post it up.

We are trying to get a final head count for the event. If you are definitely going, please email me at ZumSpdRX-7@yahoo.com

Exclamation

i accidentally put 2 email addresses, one with my RX-7club screenname and the other being the correct one.

the correct one is zumspdrx7@yahoo.com and not the zumspdrx-7 one. sorry about that.

Please Email the above address if you are attending.

If my butt is going to be in a car for that long it is going to be the bimmer or I will at least have some good company to put a smile on my face.

Seriously, I just don't want to ride around for that many hours alone no matter how fun it is to just drive.

Damn it, I forgot to ask for these days off from work. No worries though, I'll probably be able to get someone to switch shifts with me.

hopefully you can get the time off for the event.

Is anyone else interested? there was so much interest before, and now it seems people keep dropping off.
