Yea hope you're ok.

Oh and your speed makes absolutely no difference. You could have been doing 100mph. If you're going straight, and he's on a sidestreet, YOU have the right of way. HE must yield.

Glad you're ok man, damage doesnt look horrible thank god. Yeah consider your case won already. He's already at fault cause he's making a turn and you're going straight, you have the right of way like ramy said. Good thing you took pics, pics look good (good meaning good evidence of the accident).

You didnt move the car after the accident right? I see in the pics that your car is still in the middle of the road, thats where it ended after you got hit right? Cause in any accident, you NEVER move the car. It dont matter if you're blocking the traffic where the president is, you never move the car.

My friend accidently moved his car 20 feet up and parked it near a curb once to avoid traffic after someone hit him and he ended up losing. ALL because he moved his car. And he didnt take pics, plus his story wasnt convincing enough even if he was telling the truth and the other guy lied. He still lost.

Crashed Coupe

Hey Tommy,

That sucks *** big time man, I hope that you are OK and not injured in any way. Man if anyone hit my vert I would rip off the friggen upper radiator hose and beat them with it, people don't realize how hard it is just to keep our cars running on the road.

If you need any help getting the car back together, man holla my way and I'll be there...

I hope you get your ride fixed before the May 14th meet.

Good thing is that its only front end and you have parts from other cars that you have around.

Hit me up if anything...

Once again, my condolences to the bomex front bumper...

Regards,

- Anil Singh

Thanks for the condolences. I know I have the right of way and hes fully wrong. Both the cops and my insurance company told me that. Now I have to contact his insurance and let them take care of it. I mistyped earlier, I meant to say that their witness claimed I was speeding but even so their witness admits the guy stopped at the sign and then proceded through it dispite me coming down the street.

Im ok, just a bad headache and a sore chest/shoulder.

Im also gonna see what i can do about mazda. I understand its a '91 but still the seatbelt should not have ripped out of the wall like that. Its seems to be held in by ****** plastic. THis time it cause me to smash my head into the steering wheel, if I was on the highway I coulda been outta the windsheild.

On a cool note I was sitting there with the cops when a brave blue 91 coupe drove over and parked. It was a local rotorhead who had seen me around and just heard about the crash and wanted to see if everything was ok. He came over and tried to help me get it started but then I decided to let the tow truck take it. but we exchanged numbers and will keep in touch., He told me to bring it to his friends place because it was "too stock" LOL.

Im still upset becaus eive had the car like 3 weeks and this happens, but atleast Ill eb getting ti repaired at their cost. I just have to figure out fi theyll pay the extra cost for the bomex bumper. I also need an english website that has the bumper to prove the cost.

Just a word of advice: don't speak to his insurance company. They tape those conversations, and try and catch ANY error that may slip outta your mouth, then hold it against you. NEVER EVER speak to the opposing party's insurance company. You speak to YOUR insurance company, issue a statement (which they'll record), THEY'LL type out an incident report, and send it over to the other guy's insurance. Your insurance company is always looking out for you (since that helps them look out for themselves), so use that protection to your advantage. If HIS insurance company calls you, tell them "I have no comment, I have given my statement to my agent, feel free to call him for any and all further information."

They shouldnt total it, the KBB value is 3600, i dont see 3600 worth of damage. Even if they do total it ill just find a Tii and buy back this one for parts.

sorry to hear about that seatbelt.. i mean i do a good 80+ mph on the highway.. and never really thought that mazda would give the 7 such a cheap seatbelt.. technically since we cant get our historical tags on the 2nd gen.. you can still call on mazda for not paying attention when working on your car...

if you consider the bumper the finder hood and paint it will cost over 3K for parts and labor.. so consider that car totalled.. and after the insurance company gives you some price for fixing it.. you can turn it down and sue the guy directly if you want.. :-D

I thought about that, i mean when they do estimates I think they use dealership prices which would mean TOTALLED. If they try that thye better let me buy back the car.

^^^ for real^^^ Im starting to think the rotary hates me. Just bad luck after bad luck. But anyway its all their fault and their insurance gotta deal.

The guy was actually pretty cool about it, he didnt say much and when the cop asked if he disputed anything i said he said no. His mother was a bitch though, popping **** and just minding everyones business. She even tried impersonating a cop till they showed up. But the witness on both our sides back me up (whether they were trying to or not) and I should be compensated.

Ill ttyl Jason, i gotta head back to work ill probably catch ya on aim.

Yeah bro, I've had nothing but bad luck with my 7 for the last 3 weeks.

Ripped out 3 diff mounts and broke two axles in that time. I'm slowly becoming one of the typical 7 owners whose car "isn't running now, but might soon..."

Take care bro.

Talking

tommy welcome to the busted rex club!

it always sucks when you get into an accident, esp when its rainy outside ... I dont want to preach to the choir ... but as everyone has already mentioned, as long as you're ok it's all good. I did the whole FDNY EMT thing and boy, that critical failure of the shoulder strap portion of ur seatbelt is rediculous and could have been crazy. I was also under the impression that seat belts (as mandated) are covered for life inregards to failure, and again, that was definately failure. I bet you could make some sort of injury excuse and sue mazda!

On another note, you can join my harloquin rx7 club! Dont feel soo bad, just remember what my rex looks like and that should bring a smile to your face, im sure it does for jaze and anil

As for the total loss, or the potential total loss, or whatever your INScompany may deem the most financially sound for themselves; them greedy shmucks (again wishing us rex owners to desire FDs ... wait or was I the only one drooling when that white one pulled up ) Anyway, you can always part it out! especially to some new rex owner like me!!

to all who see this thread i got dibs on the following
LAMBO DOORS, I GOT DIBS~!!
The Billion Paddle swithces to control the stock neon light interface :
That awesome, super APEXi exhaust
oh and the center a/c vent!!!!

BklynRX7 - Sorry to hear about your accident. If you still have that headache, I'd get a cat scan or MRI if I were you. Not to alarm you, but if it doesn't go away, or you get dizzy spells, you could have some bleeding on the brain. Don't ignore it.

Be carful on the speeding issue. A friend of mine pulled out infront of a car on weststreet in annapolis and they blammed the accident on the guy going strait. My friend fully admited to pulling out infront of the guy but in court his insurance argued that if the guy wasn't speeding he may have been able to avoid the accident. It was several years ago but I belive witnesses said they though the guy was going at least 10 over the speed limit. Just be carful and never admit you where speeding
