Exclamation Heading to Florida for 1st NHRA event with Reactive Racing

Guys,

A few forum members and a few close friends of mine are heading to Florida for the 1st NHRA event of the year with Dee from Reactive Racing. The event is April 1st and 2nd.

So far it's about 8 of us that have booked tickets already including RX794. The following guys are pending...

Speed_NYC - common Roan, remember the last trip we took to Florida?
John Duarte - is trying but not 100% sure yet. I say take some time off and let's go!
Jay7_NYC - just think of all the women in south beach Jay!

Tickets were cheap with Jet Blue - $79 each way. I figure it would be a nice way to start the new racing season and get some time away with a few friends and show some support for a fellow NE rotorhead.

I will get there Fri morning and leaving Mon night but others are arriving Sat morning and leaving Sun night. If anyone is interested, just book your flight or drive behind a huge tractor trailer with a 7sec rotary inside with an inexperiened truck driver (dee) behind the wheel. I chose to fly.

Anthony

YEAAAAAHHHHHH(Little John voice) I can't wait Anthony, gonna see if I can get my girlfriend to work the flight since I'm going on Jetblue. Boostn7(JD) isn't gonna be able to make it cause of previous engagements, but I hope everyone else will be able to come, it's gonna be fun. Tell Dee to get the BBQ ready!

Me and Anthony had the BEST time of our lives with the entire Reactive Racing Team, very professional, and very nice guys. We'll be updating this thread with some pics as soon as Anthony gets back.

Dee ran a best time of 7.8, that was lifting. That was enough to qualify 2nd but had clutch issues in eliminations.

We have to thank the guys at Reactive, the entire pit crew, for the hospitality they showed my friends and I, most of them that they never met before.

We had a great time. We arrived on Friday and Dee gave us a free pass for the entire weekend for everyone in our group, that was the best lol! We were able to park with all the pro racers with their huge trailers and got a good idea how much fun it is. The reactive team also has a huge trailer with all sorts of gadgets and a lift as well.

Friday I picked up Rx794 from the airport and we went back to the track with lots of gray goose loo. We bbq'd hot dogs and hamburgers and stayed there until about 2am Before leaving Dee took us for a ride on the track itself with a gocart doing about 30miles an hour around turns, never freakin again.

Saturday we got to the track early and watched the team prepare for qualifying. We learned how quickly strategies change when qualifying. Dee let us know why certain decisions are made and the reasons. It really get complicated when racing at this level. The team qualified 2nd. To wind down in the evening, we all went go cart racing where I had to school everyone own how to take turns. It was clearly obvious who the drag racers were, there were the ones slamming on the brakes when coming to the turns. Ross was nice enough to pay for a 2nd round for everyone, that was a lot of fun. We bbq'd and hung out really late again.

On Sunday they did not want to let us in even with the pass, they wanted us to pay some insane amount of money. Since one of Dee's buddies is the Moroso track manager and we met him as well, he came over and let us in, that was pretty cool. Sunday was more intense as again we learned a lot. Dee had some clutch problems and could not get the gear into 3rd. It turned out to be something simple but again a learning experience. We saw the pit crew in action and saw the team working together under some stress.

We also hung out with one of the guys from Atkins Rotary and got to spend time with Ken Sheepers and Dan Scheckter. I was impressed with Ken since he really works on his car himself. He had to change a motor or rebuild a motor and did not have a large pitcrew, as a matter of fact I don't think he had anyone except Dan helping him but he is really dedicated. I really want him to do well this year. I wanted to offer help but really did not know him that well.

As for Dan, what a badass car. That car impressed me a lot with solid back to back low 10sec passes. We got to meet a lot of nice people that really support each other, a really nice group.

Many times on the forums we write and talk but actually going to an event is where you really get to know each other and understand a lot more about the sport we are all in. We kinda just stood back and watched everyone help each other and really support each other, even though competing against each other!

We all had a really nice time. On Sunday night we went down to south beach and checked out some of the local spots. Dee was on his way back already. Monday we went to the beach and then jumped on the plane back to NY. I took a lot of pics and a LOT of video. Maybe someone can edit it and throw some background music.

The next event is in Virginia on the 22nd. Hopefully we can all meet up there and have some more fun. I plan on taking my car there as well. Hope to see more forum members there.

Yes ray was nice enough to lend me 2 used rotors when someone else did not ship mine in time, i have machined them and they are in my spare motor waiting there turn to be destroyed

I am on my way to pfs now to replenish ray's stock, again thanks to ray for stepping up in a time of need most people dont realize what it takes to field a championship caliber car.

Thanks for the compliment on the paint but i cannot take credit on the color it was a suprise. The body man mixed it up special for us you have to see it in person to see the slight pearl effect it has it is very nice.

Good to see some of the street guys are starting to get there cars out there running some decent times the more rotarys running the better!!!!

Hope to see everyone in VA

For the record i think i lapped anthony 2 times on the go karts even though he took the through the grass short cut

So does this mean PFS gets some space for a sticker on your ride now like the other sponsors?
Yea as far as the color, it looks like my car if I had a **** load more money into her.
Who is your fiberglass guy that made the front?

No PFS let me borrow the rotors they did not give them to me i will have to reimburse Ray. So that would make ray a friend and unfortunatly i can put friends on the car as that could get costly

Sponsors give me money and give me parts. I am sure if Ray was interested my marketing people could hook him up

As for the fiberglass front end it is the the work of CRC my chassis fabricator, the lovely turbo hump is a product of one of my crew guys eric who is very handy with sand paper.

Haha, the go carts were fun, I still have a burn mark on my right side tricep because of leaning on the gas tank cover when getting out, it was ok though, at least I didn't get lapped, hahahaha. Maybe it was the power to weight ratio with me compared to Anthony, hahaha.
